I think that I have a working version now, that even seems to run on the CT60 accelerated Falcon as long as the bus and DSP acceleration is turned off.

Hi Crash,

That looks good!

Is this the last version you "registered" with the customers data left blank? Would you still be able to "register" a new one with name, address etc. (my idea is creating a FV with datafields like Name= "for every one", etc.)

Thanks!

Greetings,

I don't recall if this version has my name or is blank, but was able to get both working and retain a set of the unregistered files so I can make one with whatever information you specify for general distribution. I sent you an email, so when you have the time, please let me know what you would like to do next.

Best Regards

Hi all,

as you may have read, Crash has sent me a FV of VOXX that seems to work. Since I can't test it, I will try to set it for download this weekend at my webpage. I have to clear something with the moderators of this forum so please if one of them/you reads this post here I go:

If I set it on my webpage, they may be users with some questions that I won't be able to answer beacause I have no Falcon. By the other side, I don't want to put my e-mail address on it to avoid spam. I was thinking that it would be a good idea, to set a link to this thread in case that some one has questions about Voxx, then surely other members here could answer them better than me. Of course I will be glad to answer questions related to vocoders or whatever I have an answer for it. This could cause a substantial growing of this thread (I don't know how much Falconeers are left in this world) or maybe not. So my question to the moderators is:

Would it be okay for you and/or for this forum? Or maybe you have a better Idea?

I will post here when the download is available. Until then, I want to say thank you for your interest in Voxx, it's nice to know that there is still someone who wants to use my vocoder.

Specially I want to thank Crash, who in the past tried to "free Voxx"(sounds like a movie title) with me, but for some strange reason (I moved three times since that and have had several PC changes and crashes) we lost contact. Now, 10 years later we meet here again, he still having those archives and hopefully this time, we will conclude it!

Hello all,

well the download is ready! Please let me know if Voxx works on your Falcons.

If someone decides to make a Voxx YT-Video some day, please send me a link so I can link it at my web page.

To get the download go to my webpage http://www.axxim.de/r3dias/, click the dial until vocoder is selected and then simply read to go on...

Hope it works!

Hello Axxim,

As previously discussed through PM, your willingness to re-release this software as freeware will not go unrewarded. I would love to host a VOXX "relaunch" and publish an article about your love of vocoding and your VOXX software on the Atari Music Network. As far as I'm concerned, this is a historical moment for Atari musicians. There will be a lot of surprised and happy people and I will definitely suggest to make a donation.

After several failed attempts to look you up over the past few years, I'm thrilled that you are still an Atari enthusiast and willing to help our community! Let's discuss an article or interview asap on the Atari Music Network and promote this baby.

- Donovan

P.S. Thank you Crash for keeping these files safe all these years! That was too close a call!

You are welcome!

I always felt bad that Axxim was willing to release Voxx as freeware, but that I could never get it working and then our emails got cut off. I kept the files all this time hoping to give it a try one day, and am glad that day has come. I managed to retain some of our original emails and the unregistered version of Voxx, and fortunately was able to out it all back together and get the registration working this time around.

Too much Atari software will be lost forever, and it is a very good thing that Voxx is not among that lot. I am very happy to have helped; now, lets go make some music!

The Atari Music Network has compiled an informative download page in celebration of the full version relaunch of VOXX here:

http://www.atarimusic.net/index.php/com ... falcon-030

This new page includes an interview in Achim, vocoding multimedia samples, and links to articles on vocoding history.

Enjoy!

Thank you very much crash. I did my best to put it together quickly. When I saw you had found VOXX, I made this bit a news top priority because I too had been looking for the full version for years with no success.

Side Note: I still have a pile of backlogged uploads I need to complete as well as several dozen other great articles I need to to edit, assemble, and post. If anyone considers himself a strong English editor, please contact me if you're interested in volunteering to brushing up some articles I need to post!

Cheers!

Thanks a lot! I'm right now listening it from AMN [smilie=greencolorz4_pdt_01.gif] OMG, what memories it brings to me. My uncle had the album in vinyl and everytime I went to visit him I asked to put this song, and I became crazy miming the drums. I was only 4 years old

Hi there, tried yesterday on my Falcon030 and couldn't make it work :(

The installation instructions says "If you get only noise and the spectrum display id maxed then
close it and try again (sync problems were reported)
". Well I closed and tried again several times, even rebooting the Atari, but the only thing I get is the spectrum display id maxed.

By the way, do you know anything about what happened to AMN? It just disappeared from the face of the planet as never existed before :(

I sent a message to inquire in case of an error with the AMN site. I hope they haven't shut down, as things were looking very good there.

Regarding the problems with Voxx, does your Falcon have any modifications or fixes installed? When I tried to run Voxx with the bus accelerator, I got only white noise and pegged meters. I needed to disable the bus speeder. Also, some Falcon's apparently have timing problems which can lead to audio crackling during certain types of audio playback and/or may prevent Voxx from working properly. The author had the same problem with his early revision Falcon. I don't know if Voxx is helped or hurt by the SDMA clock patch modifications, since it would not run on my old Falcon which was patched according to the Cubase addendum, but does run on my current system with a different type of patch.

I think this may be a program that can be used to test SDMA for crackling:

http://files.dhs.nu/ct2/sdmatest.zip

"You set the sound level to a maximum, select 4 channels, after a play you must hear nothing (no clicks or noise)."

Don't think is an error, as has been reported that Facebook and Twitter accounts have disappear as well, and Donovan Logan is unreachable through e-mail.

Crash wrote:Regarding the problems with Voxx, does your Falcon have any modifications or fixes installed?

Some mods, yes (14MB RAM TOS 4.04 + replaced IDE drive (4GB Microdrive & external CF slot) + NVRAM mod + SCSI buffer clock mod), but don't think any of these mods can affect the sound, right?
