Falcon leaflet

Postby christos » Fri Oct 20, 2006 9:31 pm

I just saw my falcon advertising leaflet again (with falcon prices written on it with pen ;)) and there was a screenshot of a falcon game in it, a polygon space flight simulator. I know it was never released but what was it's tittle? And I also remember a big list of about 30 commercial falcon games that were supposed to come out, I remember that dino dudes, Ishar and tornado flight simulator were amongst it. Does anyone remember more?

I've got a copy of that leaflet somewhere as well.

I'm not even sure if the screenshot you mentioned was a real game or a mock-up?

In my view, just about all the 'hidden' commercial non-released games from that period have emerged in some form or other by now, if they got very far in the first place. I get the impression that a lot of titles on that list were nothing more than statements of intent, and any real coding was abandoned very early on.

Unless someone else has better information?

Ishar 1 & 2 were released as i have them both in original boxes. Dino Dudes was released too. Never heard about that Tornado thing...
I Think there was an article about games that "are coming" in ST Format Falcon special issue.

Hi there... I think the polygon thing you saw there is the Eclipse demo, by Eclipse ofcourse, that was supposed to be a game engine. It can be found under that name at the No Fragments archive. Atari made a lot of advertising showing screenshots of this demo. I remember that leaflet and I think I have it somewhere laying around too... The ST-Format was big in announcing "coming" Falcon titles... just as "Space Junk" or "Ragnarök"... Overall there were about 20 or 30 commercial games (and I don´t speak about shareware titles) officially released on the Falcon:

Humans/Dino Dudes
Ishar 1
Ishar 2
Ishar 3 + Ishar 3 CD
Robinsons Requiem + Robinsons Requiem CD
Transarctica
Steel Talons
Road Riot 4WD
Llamazap
Running
Pinball Dreams (later released for free)
Platonix (Falcon Version)
Golden Island
Operation Skuum (later released for free)
Sheer Agony + Sheer Agony CD (later released for free)
Aazhom Krypth (later released for free)
Killing Impact
Crown Of Creation
Let´s Play Shanghai
Epilepsi
Moonspeeder
Gravon
Ping 2000
Stoneage
...and a game by Absence made for WBW... but damn, I have some brain break... I really remember it´s title... it´s a puzzler, too ...

A few ones like Raiden were never officially released as they were buggy...

greetings, Eric

Wasn't there also a sequel to Moonspeeder? Moongames or similar title?

OK thanks for the info people,
I don't think that moongames ever got a commercial release. Moondog, are you referring to pushago? '

Although it isn't in it's best state I' ll try to scan it and upload it somewhere...
Note that it was given to me about a couple of months after the falcon arrived in Greece by a guy in A-systems. This person suggested a shop I could buy it from but Kanellis had what seemed to me like a better deal, with a SVGA mono monitor and 20Mb of IDE hard disk. Now I have 12Gb inside....

Hi again, the Absence game was called "Confusion" and quite nice designed for a puzzler... you can smell everywhere that it´s maker´s had their origin in the demo scene...

@geoanas http://rapidshare.com/files/658711/falcon.rar.html
feel free to link to it ;). The quality of the paper was very bad after all those years so don't expect much, sorry.

On the original topic. Thanks again moondog... I'll try to find that game or a demo of it anyway.
We should also mention that a few of omikronman's games have also been released as commercial and still are, enemy wars II comes to mind.

Yep, I think I have a copy on my hard drive - although following a recent move my falcon is in the attic. I don't think I could ever get that game running though. I'll have a look for it when I get 'her' back out!
