Running Source Code

Postby karlm » Mon Mar 21, 2005 12:43 am

Hmm ... cleaning up at home I found the GPL sources to running. Fired up GenST, compiled it, grabbed all the files from the DATA directory, and put it on E: under running, which the sources say it needs to be .....

Now I boot it up, it gives me the option of vbl and music and press a key....
click ....
nothing.

It created a TEMP dir and SAVES dir with the DATA dir, but it does nothing....
am I doing something wrong!?

Cheers,

karlm

What's the game/demo/util and where are the sources located?

Someone on here will be able to point out what is needed to get it working.

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Protos .. you obviously have some kind of telepathic link with the above as I can't see any mention of what this app is ??

Or is it called GPL?

Hello there...

I really doubt the thing you got will run on a Falcon as the only "Running" that was released in that way was the never finished version of that game for the Milan Computer... I remember the makers putting it online for some weeks untill the site closed down and Running Milan went to ashes...

Yes I should have made it "Running", i wasn't being beer-brained-obtuse there MugUK..... :)
The sources include the Milan version, as well as the srcfalcon directory, which tells me in the readme that it is for the Falcon030.

So "Running2" was GPL'ed, even though all it does for a 350K file is produce some folders and a text menu, :( .... I guess "Running" is still commercial!?

Cheers,

karlm.

In fact as i remember, the socalled "running 2" was thought to be the multiplayer version of Running for Falcon, unfortunately the makers wanted to finish Running Milan at first and so both projects died with the Milan project...

I don´t know if the game is still commercial as the makers spreaded it by their own, surely also owning the rights. Best would be to ask them... Try those ones:

Volker Konrad admin[at]volker-konrad.de

Michael Opel michael.opel[at]vr-web.de

If they are still reachable over those adds they may give you further informations about this topic....

Volker gave me a nice email guys ...

--------------------------------------------

Hi Karl,

Running was a commercial game for the Atari Falcon.

Running2 was the adaption to the Milan 2, but this platform has never been
released, so that Running2 wasn't finished, too.

When Milan Computer stopped the Milan 2 project in October 2000, we also
stopped coding Running2. By that time we released the sources of Running and
Running 2 under the GPL.

The Running2 release is splitted in the following parts:

runmilan.zip

A demolevel vor the Milan 030. All tests have been made with a S3 Trio V64
graphic board and a special driver version for this card. The driver is
included in milandrv.zip. This archive include the executable running.prg
with all data and graphic files for the demolevel.

milandrv.zip

The driver for the S3 Trio V64 graphic board.

srcmilan.zip

The sources for building a new running.prg (running.prg is the executable,
which is included in runmilan.zip).

srcfalco.zip

The sources for the commercial Falcon version.

So, if you wanna have a look at Running (on the Atari Falcon), you need the
commercial version of Running - but we don't distribute Running anymore,
sorry.

If you wanna have a look at Running 2 (on the Milan), you need runmilan.zip
(and probably) milandrv.zip. You do not (!) have to recompile running.prg
with srcmilan.zip.

Greetings

Volker
