Slow down the Falcon for ST games

Hello,

i have several St games (ex Skatewars) which are a little bit problematic on my Falcon. The music plays too fast and the game is too fast aswell (ex Toki).

Some games have the option to switch to 8Mhz&disable cache at startup by pressing M, but it does not seem to work.

I tried to use FalconSX, and it does not work either.

Do you have any info about that ?

Well, it's not the cpu speed that has this effect. It's the 60Hz refresh rate. You could run it at a TV with 50Hz.

Pressing M leads only to setting screen. Then you need to do settings, and confirm them with enter.
There are some utils for setting Falcon CPU clock, cache, + other things. Most effective is to set CPU clock to 8 MHz. Cache disable will not slowdown much.
FSTEADJ.ZIP

You may use it self to set parameters, or drag and drop games start file to it, and then set parameters, will run game using them.

This is weird, since some games seem to run properly, Goldrunner or Wings Of Death for example.

Some games use a timer for the music replay routine rather than the VBL.

Wings of Death is one of these games, I presume it uses a timer rather than a VBL because it natively supports 50Hz and 60Hz and they wouldn't have wanted the music to change.

If they will run under MiNT, load a very light Multitos and play with time slice.

some player test if they are in 60hz, and then skip (i think) its every 6 vbl.
