I've been interested in Gravon since the 90's, and knew it would be a game I wanted for the Falcon, should I ever get one. Well, I finally got a Falcon, and now I have Gravon (downloaded from a french Falcon site), and I like the game, well, I still have to get used to the sluggish controls (I really expected it to control closer to the Jag's Hoverstrike). Now, I know the Falcon is no Jaguar, but the frame rate is as slow as most ST polygon/vector games. I know this game has a real landscape to deal with, rather than the flat worlds of all ST poly/vector games, but it's still just plain-shaded polygons, yet moves slower than Armour-Geddon on an 8Mhz ST, and it's half-screen or less with that huge cockpit. Is it because I've only got 4MB? Will the speed improve with more memory? Would a 68881/2 installed make a difference? I'll still probably like the game, sluggish or not, but I just really expected it to be much zippier, like most ST polygon/vector games when they are "fixed/hacked" for 16MHz MegaSTE & Falcons.
And it shall come to pass, in the days when the Dark Hunt rides,
when the right hand falters and the left hand strays,
that mankind shall come to the Crossroads of Twilight and all that is,
all that was, and all that will be shall balance on the point of a sword,
while the winds of the Shadow grow.-From 'The Prophecies of the Dragon'
