I tried this, but it didn't worked. The loader from the CD Rom version seems to work with the floppy version of the game though.
Unfortunately, the only version of Ishar III I have seems to have problems (corrupted files probably) so I couldn't test this in depth...

My previous message was unclear...

The PC CD rom version of Ishar III that I have works fine.
The Falcon floppy disk version doesn't work.

ishar 3 cd

Postby saulot » Fri Sep 23, 2005 11:13 am

hi! If anyone would like crack it , I can provide the saves. I've finished the game on ST and I should have some spare saves left (if not I could finish it once again :D ). The save format works on ST,F030 even PC's. If anyone could dump the f030 cd image somewhere...
I've launched robinson's requiem recently on f030 with ct60 and I was quite impressed :) .

cheers

Ah, the Atari forums, where it doesn't feel wrong to dig up really old threads...

Now that that's out of the way, I've been trying to get the CD version of Ishar 3 working on the Falcon, but this thread kind of meandered about and it seems the game is out there, I just bought the compilation of all three on GoG, but would rather play it on the Falcon, all I get when I launch it is a black screen, then if I hit the space bar it turns into a yellow/orange screen, then if I hit the space bar again, it gives me the TOS load up screen with START.PRG at the top. Unless of course I launch with the START040.PRG, which of course doesn't work anyhow, since I have an 030, but you'd think instead of the black then yellow/orange wouldn't even happen and it would just kick me back to the desktop.

Only thing I have loaded into memory would be hddriver.

Update: Got this working, apparently I hadn't copied everything over, due to permissions issues on my NFS share, it simply couldn't see all the files to copy. Oops!

Now if only I could get Ishar 1 to not crash...

This might be a bit left of field, but what about preserving the ISO's of defunct Falcon games like Ishar and RR? Are there any others that are no longer in production that could be preserved? Were all three Ishar games released on CD for the Falcon?

I am pretty sure only the 3rd one was released on CD. I agree with preserving the ISOs, I guess they used standard ISO9660?

Sheer Agony looks amazing! I hadn't seen what it was about, going to have to see if I can track it down. If this thread is accurate, the PC version of Ishar 3 on CD also has the Falcon version, that is easy enough to find the CD/ISO, but what about Robinson's Requiem and Sheer Agony? By the way, does anyone know if that new game coming out called Robinson's Journey has anything to do with Robinson's Requiem / Deus?

From Silmarils? I thought RR was the same as Ishar III and dual format?

Hmm, might be dual format. I thought I'd read that RR wasn't ever officially released on the Falcon, but could have been mixed up in the pre-release of the JagCD version. Which would be far more awesome to play if it weren't for the lack of mouse / keyboard. I haven't tried it on the Falcon yet, does it look as good as the Jag's version?

Odd that, as I just bought a copy from Nick at 16/32 before they closed down :). He might still have copies if you email him.
