Postby Stratagem » Tue Mar 09, 2004 9:21 am

Hi there,

i'm just wondering 16/32 sells the game "Road Riot 4WD" - but as i remember it wasn't released. I can just remember the "preview" version.. Maybe i'm wrong?

Cheers

you´re damn right

i have to admit that "road riot 4wd" was, besides "raiden" one of the worst commercial games for falcon, nearly unplayable as it just was too fast somehow...

4wd game was so lame since it only worked with Jagpads..
so dont get the game unless you have those pads =)

the Arcade version was quite cool. but the creators on Falcon was ehum.. sleeping when they converted it.
realy crappy coded!

ehem... ok... then... but the spreaded version of raiden surely wouldn´t be more reworked in the end, totally unfair gameplay, st-a-like grafix... just forget it in the end...

hej marci :) i bought a jagpad and its really essential for falcon playing, never saw a problem in this at it is more handy as a joystick :) the game i bought this pad for was llamazap... yummy :)

Road Riot 4WD - try with 8 Mhz!

Postby MacFalcon » Tue Apr 20, 2004 7:39 am

Hello,

I also have had the problem that Road-Riot was running too fast and so was on the edge of playability.

Try to set down the speed of your falcon to 8 Mhz and then start RR.

You will get a still fast, put now playable result and the fun increases to a max!

I don´t think that this is the best racing game on falcon - of course it is not, but if you play with 8 Mhz, it is really fun!

maybe Atari finished this game before they decided to put the 68030 in our system, so this game might have run on a 68000 Falcon first...

Otherwise I can´t explain why it is so damn fast!

Hi all!

I played this in the arcade @ Thorpe Park!

The Falcon version I didn't think was that fast compared with the original, I think if you check the Mame specs it uses a 68020? @ 10mhz thats a guess it's late!

The arcade and the sequel (below) are bouncey ? and erratic! but controllable! it's just as an arcade game ought to be!

I'd describe it as somewhere between Power Drift and Buggy Boy with as mention on some review sites MarioKart style play/gfx?

Also available on MAME is a Prototype called Road Riot Revenge! which is even more manic adds a few interesting touches!

I am intrigued to try it using Backwards or magiboot! @ 8mhz! :)

There was apparently an STe version in the offing ST Format did a feature, 32 colour? or 48? it was a while back!

Cheers!

Hi
the 16/32 release was pretty faithful and complete, I have had some trouble loading on a 4mb machine, probably due to large cache? but also if I recall from floppy! I run the B.prg to get it working!

Cheers
