this project misses something important

Postby moondog/.tSCc. » Mon Feb 16, 2004 3:25 pm

without being too negative... without DSP emulation (and this is surely the breakpoint at emulating the falcon at all) it´s going to be nearly useless as about 95 % of the demos and at least 75 % of the games using the DSP, as well as specialized Falcon tools (to remember to the trackers and several multimedia tools). sure, it is, or better was (since the project was dropped), a beginning, but I think the Aranym project, even though the developpers and fans of this project don´t like it to be smashed into the emulation pott, is the only one that has a chance at all on this topic... just check there if you haven´t done it already...

well i started the dsp emulation part of netatari some time ago... not that it would be close to be finished though :?

the compilers/assemblers will supply tools to program the dsp, though. i will even try to do this in a high level language where it does make sense.

i don't know whether offering a good dev environment will unleash the creativity of coders, though. but unless you try you never know, do you?

cheers
