You are very welcome! Hope you all enjoy it!
It's the first game I ever did and it was an interesting journey! Without the helpful people in the Atari community it would not have been possible at all!

Hey, congratulations for making your first F030 game!

And a big thumbs up from me for making it work on the TT!

Its interesting that you chose not to make an action game in low res like the majority of them are. Good call.

All other computers fail due to cosmic radiation, but your Atari Falcon is still up and running.

I must have been really unlucky with all the Falcons Ive owned over the years then.

Depending on your PC hardware / emulator settings music or sfx may be delayed or not played correctly.

Use real hardware for the real fun.

Great lines. It makes me laugh how irate some people get because someone has made a game/app on REAL hardware and it wont work on their emulator.

Anyway, well done. I will try it on my TT later (my F030 unfortunately has succumbed to the cosmic radiation for now). All the best with the game! :D

Thank you very much for your kind words :)

If there´s really a demand for a TT version I can do one with wav sounds instead of music. I am still investigating why sound routine is not working on TT, as it should work with any DMA... but I think I am not deep enough into coding at the moment :( But wav routine was working, so hopefully not a big deal... maybe switch between music and sfx... we will see...

Well low-res is nice and you can attract more people of course as you could focus on ST. But Falcon and TT deserve some more stuff and as they offer these nice gfx modes, why not use them. Next game project is a cartoonish game with a snake "called" Hero and some jump ´n´run elements.

Well the game Cometball runs well on Hatari (didn´t try the latest version, yet), but my PC is too slow, I think that causes the timing issues. It gives a bus error in Stemulator afaik.

I still don´t like PCs. Prefer sitting in front of a friendly machine.

Well, you should get your falcon fixed... mankind needs you ;)

Stay Atari!

Oh, you already have another game in the pipeline! Sounds like you've discovered how much fun it is to program these old machines! Makes me happy!

I reworked the engine a little bit. Nothing serious, but now it's a little smoother. Both story and arcade mode.

If you don't need DSP, you get a large speed boost from disabling it. Hatari manual's performance section lists few other options: https://hatari.tuxfamily.org/doc/manual ... erformance

Cometball 2.06 online:

- fixed video mode detection. Game will now definitely tell you if you did start in wrong res/color depth.

- little bit speed improvement.

Game still can be downloaded at http://ofam.lima-city.de/comet.htm

A few boxed versions are also left for sale, limited edition is sold out.

Stay Atari!
