For those guys that haven't heard and seen already:

Silkcut (Amiga/AGA demo) from The Black Lotus crew is now ported to Falcon/CT60... by Mikro/MSB!

Great work Mikro :-) Thanks a lot. It's artistic stuff.

What kind of Amiga did it run on? not a plain A1200 or?
There is NO need for more than 16 colors

Err not a plain A1200! The entry level is a 68060 boosted machine. (Blizzard board I believe). The Falcon version is intended for the CT60 and CT63 boosted machines. I can confirm it will run on a Centurbo 2 boosted Falcon (68030 at 50mhz), but that is very choppy and slow and hardly a recommendation

I guess it is at some point. The last report from Mikro was that he had completed 90% of the port. It appears he encountered some hardware issues with his CT60 since, which has delayed matters. There was talk of a trilogy of ports, including Starstruck, which would be really cool if that comes off 8)

There is also talk of some original Falcon code coming from that direction as well at some point.

YES. Mikro is really working on this but I don't know when it will be finished.

Wow! Nice video of the Falcon version!

Great music and some brilliant visual effects... my favourite was the classy, realistic white boxes with shadows apparently rendered in real-time. Looked like raytraced stuff!

Really nice! The stationary boxes are probably rendered with a skylight, and GI and then texture baked. I don't think their lighting is calculated in realtime. Doing something like that is hard even in precalc. Because the way Stochastic sampling works you get moving spotches unless you have a LOT of samples. usually adding texture to an object hides a lot of these problems, but just white boxes is a worst case scenario for the renderer.

Really amazing demos. Only bad thing about these Amiga-conversions is that they really put shame over majority of Falcon demos. Amiga demos in most cases had much better design or "story" (with or without acceleration) compared to usual mid 90's Falcon stuff that just mostly spins few cubes around.
Maybe because Amiga was more widely used for serious graphics work than Atari machines, don't know.
