Digital cover of DRACONUS (for ST/e/F030)

Postby yerzmyey » Mon Sep 30, 2013 5:26 pm

Hi,

there was a WAPNIAK 2013 Atari party in capital city of PL - Warsaw.
There were two compos: game and cover compo.

The cover compo was for any Atari model, any music engine. 16bit accent in the compo -

Enjoy.

PS: On Falcon 030 one has to use Octalyzer to play.

I like it :) Where's the difference from the ST and STE module versions?

Thx a lot.

As for the differences, I made only one recording (from ym2149), as all the stuff (except Falcon songs :) ) goes to YM-DIGITAL project, however I always want the songs to work also on other machines than ST(f).
So first things are being made in a mutual format which is Octalyser (it makes some... 'skeleton' of the song, heh).
But all the rest and various details are being made separately on 520ST (HexTracker) and 1040STE (the Octalyser).
It's because HexTracker has its own format, as far as I notices, so there's no way back from it.

The differences are two things: slightly different volumes for AY and DMA, but also more differences are in vibratos and slides. They're not identical in Hex/Octa, so must be done separately.

Of course except the quality.
For example, in case of this song, the highest frequency is 22755 Hz on Hex844 (ym2149).
On Atari STE the final freq (for recording/events) is 50khz on the attached player. Another thing is that while making the song on STE, You can use quality only something like 15kHz? Or sommit.
On Falcon030, on the other hand, the player doesn't work. So the only way I know to play the song - is to use Octalyser itself. With its max. quality it would be 25khz.

So - more/less - that's it. ;)

Best regards,
Y
