They wanted feedback/critic but maybe i should mail it to them since i don't know if any of the Creamies ever read this forum?

And of course the usual SNDH files did not work with the new JAM but that could be a bug in the actual files and not JAM and should be reported to Grazey ;-)

Preferred the old interface, simply cos it let me use my existing windows skin, which featured an "always on top" button. If they can add an "always on top" to the new version, I'd be a happy little bunny....

OMG! Just discovered TAO's archive of his TSD format tunes. Sheer bliss! The ST soundchip never sounded so good!

I'll take anything you've got on them....Atari would be the obvious platform, but if you've got an inside track on PC replay source, I'd be happy to share in your good fortune :-D

JAM 2 under Linux

Postby NiceGuyUK » Fri Apr 07, 2006 11:13 am

Quick bit of fiddling around on the computer today and I managed to get JAM 2 working under Linux using WINE. :-D :-D

[UPDATE] Seems to work for TSD files but not for SNDH :-(

Needed the MFC42.DLL from my Windows XP partition (and not the older version I downloaded), and there's some font corruption on the display, but the sound works, and thats the important part! Its not too heavy on the CPU usage under emulation either.

Currently listening to one of Tao's TSD format tracks (Do Things)

Evil sound skipping

Postby NiceGuyUK » Tue Jan 08, 2008 2:26 pm

I'm getting a lot of sound skipping on this lately. WinJam 2.0, Windows Vista Ultimate on a Core 2 Duo 2GHz with 1Gb RAM (aka MacBook 13in under Boot Camp), with a simple 50hz VBL Mad Max (SOS Tune).

I've increased the DirectSound buffer from 200 to 960 but still getting skips and jumps. CPU load is minimal (2-5%).

Anyone any suggestions?

Maybe this would work:

Right click on Jam.exe
Select Properties
Click on Compatibility tab
Click the box that says 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:'
In the drop down box underneath select Windows XP
Click on Apply

The terms above are from XP as I didn't want to reboot into Vista but I'm sure Vista has something similar although the wording may be different and you'll probably get a security warning (like you do on everything in Vista :? )
