Project Ymer. ym2149 program for windows... New version

Postby FedePede04 » Fri Jul 11, 2014 11:23 pm

Ym2149.rar

new version just replace the exe file with this one :)
i have made the time line in simple YM edit, plus edit the loop point.
it will probably be redone later on.
I have also remove a bug in the play list then changing the play order, the repeat number did not change with the play list.

2014-07-13 Ym2149.rar

Hi all.
Last year i started on making a total overhaul of my ym2149 program, and all went fine, i did most of it. then problems started to hit me.
plus i have been sick for a good part of 2014, so it have brought the program to a halt :(

Monday i need to have remove a tumor from my neck, nothing special BUT just in case, i will uploaded the latest version here :D
and when i resume work on it, i will upload the full version.

things that need to be done is most in the Simple Ym edit.
seting a new loop point and time the line.

here is a couple of screen shot of the new version.

Many thanks mOdmate:)

it is actually a quite old program it is dating back to around 98, i have also uploaded the old version before.
but after i change chip emu, i was trying out the program, and found out that the program suck in many ways, so that was the reason for the major overhaul, not much of the old stuff is left in the program :)

did you ever find any use for ST-Paint?

STpaint.rar

thanks for that, this is a higher version than mine, (I took it from there viewtopic.php?f=14&t=23971)
but on your website http://www.fedepede04.dk/ST-paint.html is a version from 20-09-2012
Sometimes ago, when I changed a laptop, I downloaded ST-paint from your website and actually I was a bit surprised that it looks a bit different than the one I used earlier :)

I am not sure if there is different between those two version, maybe i just recompiled it (i need to get better to add a version to my programs), i think the size is the same, but i am not sure
and about my web site it is a crime, I should had done something about it long time ago,
it is just every time that i had a little time, i would rather use it on my programs instead of web site, but i really have to find some time so i can update it

unfortunately no it was not good news, i had cancer in my thyroid, and i got it removed Monday,
the operations when ok, but in the process they damage the thing that control the calcium in the blood,
so they have kept me in the hospital to now, but i was allow to get home (today), if i can come in ever day for taking blood samples. :)

Nice looking project - just discovered it... Glad to see that development of this YM tool is coming on, but I have to ask, what is the difference between your YMT files and standard YM files, because Im not finding any other tools out there that can recognize your output format??... Your tool has great potential, but it really needs some more import and export options to make it truely useful, otherwise your file formats are going to be only useful to the program itself... I would love to use this as a development tool, but I really don't know how I can use the output files...

...There is also a lot of interest from the 8 bit ZX Spectrum community when it comes to YM music - a tool like this could be useful if it could export more standard YM file formats...

Unless Im mistaken, your tracker doesn't yet have the ability to convert its musical score output yet as a YM file format, even in your YMT format?...

Im really glad to see this tool getting some development attention - it has great potential - but would really really love to see more file conversion options incorporated...

I sincerely hope you are healing well from your recent health difficulties,

Regards,

KgMcNeil

Re: Project Ymer. ym2149 program for windows... New version

Postby FedePede04 » Tue Aug 26, 2014 7:54 pm

Hi
First thanks for the all the fine words :)
The original idea with this project was to make a ST-emulator so i started on making the sound chip around 1998-1999, already at this point, was it many years since, that i had own a atari, so things started fade away, not sure if my sound chip sounded right, that was the reason for me to add import of YM Uncompress files, but i did not like how the ST-Sound file format was made, and also i had never spend time on lha packer, and i did not want to use time learning how to implement into my code, so instead of using lha, made i a semi packer for the file, so my score is pack a little, the reason for that no other player recognize them.
then i stop coding for 11 years.

so when i lost my job, i bought a ST again, and started to code a little again, i talk to a few up here and i told them that i had made this program, and some ask if i could upload it, problem was it could not run under windows 7 64 bit, that was the reason i started on the program again. after i got it to run i started adding new functions and the tracker to the program, my intention was to make a dedicate player for the Atari ST so you could run the tracker files on the Atari. it never got finish, i only finish making the UI.(ill probably reuse it now to a stand alone YMT player).

but now the program die again, and i started on my drawing program.
Ok last year, i was trying to make some music in it and thought that my UI suck mega balls, DAMN it was annoying to use, so i started rewriting most of the program, even removing a number of bugs that had been present since 1999 :)

and i was making good progress when i started getting sick, so since Feb the program have been moving really slow again.
but i had to release the last version before i had my operations, in case that i did not make it
so all my work did not get lost, and the version that released is in no near what i would have like it to be.
Now i have slowly resume work on it again.

ok to the new things, right now i am in the middle of making exporting to my ymt format, (it will probably rename to AYM), but it will only be tracker score with pure YM sound that can be exported(No synthwave or pw/pwm sounds), but up to 300hz.
i am in the process of making the player for the ST. and it is more or less finish,

can upload a example if you are interested,
Edit >>Update look at post below

I ask AtariZoll if he could help me take a look at my code, and was a really friend to give me some advice, i also got a really good tip from Cyprian so thanks to you both.

I will probably soon release a new version that can export my own format, and source code for the ST, and also a full description on how my format is build.
probably also a stand alone player for the ST.

and i am still aiming for in the future to make a dedicate player for the ST to play my tracker format.

but i can add export to standard Ym format but it will be only a 50hz export, no other player support more then 50hz..

so that is more or less the hole storry

/Peter
