copy files from atari disk to another disk

Postby Martijn » Fri Aug 18, 2006 10:01 am

Hello,

I would like to know how to move files between *.atr disk images (Atari 8 Bit). Namely, I have many disks with Atari Boulderdash games, but I want to have them all on a loose disk.

Here is one disk:
http://www.bd-fans.com/Temp/GAMES202.ZIP

I don't have an old Atari computer, so I work with the Atari800Win emulator, which works perfectly. Copying in Atari Dos 2.5 in this way:
D1:FILE,D2:PROG (FILE is the name of the file I want to copy and PROG is what I want to call the file on the other disk)

doesn't work! On another Atari forum someone told me the following:

It appears the disk is in a special format (most likely stripped and compressed to hold those games) and unreadable under DOS. That's common for compilation disks put together in later (1990's) years.

So does anyone here know another solution to copy the games to other disks? Is there a Windows utility to do this? The only program I know is XDir, but I followed the instructions in the *.cfg file (and changed it), but I can't manage it. Maybe someone else could try it? Download it here: http://www.bd-fans.com/Temp/xdir.zip

oh yes, and here is an empty Atari disk file (*.atr) in case you need it (if you want to help):
http://www.bd-fans.com/Temp/Empty.atr

Thanks in advance!

okay, now I finally managed to copy the files. But on the new, formatted disk with the copied file on it, I get a boot error when I start from the disk. What is wrong with it? What do I have to do with this disk? How can I let it boot? How can I create a screen to choose the files that are on the disk from?
