TOS 2.06

Postby JG53_Jaguar » Thu Jul 08, 2004 2:07 pm

I'm new here and I would like to say hi to every one. I have been a big fan of Atari computers since the 800XL days. Though my Atari of choise has always been 1040 STE :) I got it upgraded to 4MB of ram; my next step would be to upgrade TOS rom to 2.06 *US English*. Does anyone know where I can buy 2.06 for a reasonable price ?

Thanks for your help

8O this could be a hard task to "buy " it

a better option is to go and buy two eproms
if the supplier is worth his salt he will have or provide a programming service for images to be "burned " to the new chips
you can then just plug them into the HI and LOW roms sockets

{on the right of the machine under the floppy drive
marked HI and LOW}
U102 HI block / U103 LO block

you can download the images in many places
or perhaps youll need to get a dump of a pair of roms from a 2.06 machine
{does someone know a url for HI LO block images}

alternativly you can take the images that are avalible and split them to hi and lo blocks again {there are tools to do this }

im in glasgow in scotland and i have a programmer
if i can help give me a pm and ill try to arrange some ready mades for you to plug in

although in saying all this
it is far better to use two 1mb eproms and burn all four tos versions into it including the super tos {some bugs in 2.06 fixed}

into each page on the eproms becouse each HI LO image uses just 256k

then you can use the page selector pins of the new eproms to select what tos you want to use

again there is another method using seltos
a memory residant app that can change the tos version on the fly
provided you have the images

this is by far the best solution for a few reasons

1} you dont want the hastle of doing it to the hardware
2} leaves the machine original incase of problems
3} cheeper

youll find seltos here

youll find images & seltos

I've helped him out. I got EPROMs and burner. :)

Anyone else?

I also finally managed to track down EPROMs suitable for F030 TOS aswell.

Got TOS 4.04 ready to ship to anyone that needs it.

Leave me a PM.

I can do most language TOS.

I accept paypal, and the going rate for TOS 2.06 is 25 USD including freight & paypal fees.

TOS 4.04 is also 25 USD.

:D Hi Greenious

why not provide all four tos

in two roms
using the normaly selected pages {chips pluged straight in}
as tos2.06 or as super tos

http://www.atari-forum.com/ftopic1348.h ... ight=eprom

this way people can also add two switches
for the four versions of tos mod {actualy realy easy to do}
or not as needed

and is actualy cheeper for the chips

i can help prepair images and also test

programs i found usefull
