Someone has open sourced an STM/STF Blitter/TOS 2.0 and IDE expansion board

Details here

It's like the blitter upgrade atari promised and didn't deliver in the 80s :)

You have to build your device and install it on your computer ... a job that is not available to any user.
ST/fm/e, STacy, Mega ST/e, TT, Falcon, C-Lab MKX... and more music tools.

Many STFMs, atleast later revision mobos, are already prepared for a blitter. Either there is an empty socket, or somewhere you can put a socket.

So this board is not necessary for most, if you only want blitter.

But it's a cool piece of work nonetheless.

I suspect a version featuring an FPU instead of blitter could do fairly well among the STFM owners.

This board is for short ST, where there is no dedicated socket:

Yes, I wrote STFMs.

The classic 520 ST(M) does not have space for blitter. But most STF(M)s do.

With this device and the Lightning ST, it occurs to me: "Why not build a similar device that has it all?"

1. IDE
2. True USB
3. TOS 2
4. Blitter
5. FPU
6. RAM upgrade
7. Micro SD built in

Preferably eprom so that one can flash which ever TOS one wants to (EmuTOS is getting really good compared to TOS 1.x & 2.x)...
