Issue with a Soundpool Analog8

Postby Saturnin51 » Mon Jan 28, 2019 5:56 pm

Hi everybody,

I am going to sell my combo Soundpool Analog8 + FDI Steinberg. But unfortunetly the FDI seems to be out of order. The soundpool is OK, all the voices are correctly outed but with a wrong speed. I use an external clock directly on the Falcon and the speed is OK in this case but the audio voices are muted on the Analog8.

I have a look to the FDI card. I noticed nothing. There are several devices plugged in, maybe someone are out of order.

Did you have any idea about this issue please ?

Thank you

The fdi should be providing a 44khz clock, have you plugged them in to each other correctly and without using another clock?

The other thing to me mindful which you may be aware of other than clock rate of 44.1KHz or 48KHz is bit rate. Originally FDIs were 16-bit compatible only, later versions could handle 24-bit.

I assume the set up has not changed since it last worked?

What software are you using, did you change any setting, or all as was since you last used it?

The set up is the same. I use Cubase Audio Falcon 2.06 with dongle. After a long thinking, I am not a specialist, I think the FDI runs well. Into Cubase I can change the frequency from 44 MHz to 16 MHz.

I have a serious look to the Analog8 card and I find out several burn on the printed circuit, under a capacitor and two circuit printed board. Not a good new !
The audio sound is correctly outed but not at the right speed. Changing 44MHz to 24MHz, the speed increases.

Do you think it is possible to repair this card ?

Could you post a high res photos of the both sides of the Analog8 board?

Does anyone know the references of the integrated circuits of this board. Because they had been canceled !

I see no any sign of damage on the photos. Theere are just some solder flux residue on the pads you circled down. The board is most probably OK and the problem is elsewhere. Most probabaly in the software setup.

Thank for your answer. A friend of mine examined the two boards and he said to me he thank the issue was on the clock of the FDI. The Analog8 seems OK.
I could verify that building an external clock and a cable DSP femelle 15 pins (to the Analog8) - DSP board femelle 26 pins on which the external clock would be connected. But I solded my Falcon this weekend and I could not test that device.
