multiple crashes (ICD, Iomega, &c.)

Postby John S. Gray » Mon Jun 14, 2004 1:39 am

Hoo boy. I wonder why I continue. All within the last 5 days, my Floptical 21 mB drive cakked out, then I think the ICD host board did too. My hard disk spins, but now I can't get to it from my Mega ST.

Working Notator SL and writing music, now with a single floppy drive and a RAM disk!

Sounds as if you've had a nice week... :?
Icd boards are relatively easy to find on eBay. And if I remember right Icd themselves still sell some. :)

sounds like in the heat your psu has died

it may appear perfect even produce 5 and 12 v etc
but look at it with a scope

it will have triangle or modified square wave outputs instead of dc

perhaps this is the case

or the other thing that can cause this
is a failed regulator on the icd board

perhaps is worth changing a few caps and looking at its supply

but as for the hard disk access perhaps the bad interface or a connector has failed i would replace all cables before anything
cable fail naturaly with time as the plastic decay's

so...
JUST BECOUSE YOUR NOT PARANOID
DONT MEAN THEY ARENT OUT TO TAKE YOUR SOLE
