If you are going to lose the original look of the Atari mouse: why do you want a compatible one that still has the ball that gets dirty?
My favorite option is an Atari mouse with the interior adapted to laser (Lavago - Tim Lenke), but you do not have an original mouse, so I recommend an Olivier´s adapter and a PC mouse.

I got it and using this on my Falcon.
The mouse is a Microslop Wireless Mouse 1000 - the wireless dongle and adapter fits nice in the small area under the keyboard.

Tracking of the mouse will be lost when I move the mouse fast, but normal usage is OK.
