"Geeignete Grafikkarten:

Liste bereits getesteter VGA-Karten:

Targa Win 32K - HiColor 32768 Farben
Targa Win plus
Targa Win
Genoa 7400/7800
Genoa 7900
Viewtop ET4000 VGA
Speedstar ET4000
Speedstar 24 ET4000".

**************************************************************

"Suitable graphics cards:

The STGA adapter is designed to fit a 16-bit super VGA graphics card with an "ET4000" chip and a megabyte memory. These VGA graphics cards are currently widely used and are therefore easy to maintain. A HiColor-VGA is also suitable, because the software for initializing the card can make this video mode (32767 colors, 15Bit per color) usable - but only for viewing pictures and for use with own programs. A 32K color VDI is not planned (mainly due to the different controls).

We have been able to test only a limited number of SuperVGA cards so far and have our software adapted to them.

The menu contains a list of different resolutions and frequencies. Low frequencies should always be tried first. If everything works, the next higher frequency can be tested. As soon as the monitor can not display a picture without jitter or continuous pictures, switch off the monitor and later use only the last still stable frequency.

List of already tested VGA cards:

Targa Win 32K - HiColor 32768 colors
Targa Win plus
Targa Win
Genoa 7400/7800
Genoa 7900
Viewtop ET4000 VGA
Speedstar ET4000
Speedstar 24 ET4000".

You can build an passive wire Adapter from the 68k CPU to the Mega ST Bus for the VOFA. This works fine in an Atari ST or STE ...

I can make STGA PCBs but them not fit into a 1040ST or STE Case. So you must rebuild the whole Computer in a Tower Case or something.

This looks like an STGA Adapter for the 68k CPU ...

If you replace the PSU with a PicoPSU (or an external one) there is room for a graphics card. It needs "some" modifications to the case though...

STE ET4000.jpg

And don't worry, no STE case was harmed during this build. This is a broken STF case with bits and pieces missing.

Does this setup work with native resolutions
or is it one of those where RGB output would
have to go to a separate monitor?

If it's an "all in one" solution, I'd be interested.

Thanks. :)

You will need two monitors, or a single monitor with two inputs (or a monitor switch)

Actually if using a 15Khz compatible LCD monitor, a simple VGA switch could be used with just one monitor.
