HDTV LCD TV Box with a analog tuner...

Postby RichardL » Wed Oct 11, 2017 3:36 am

Hello Atarians,

Has anyone tried hooking their Atari ST to a HDTV LCD TV Box with a analog tuner? The output is VGA so should hook up to my LCD TV.

Any experience out there...

Regards,
Richard

You can't do this.

The Analog RF input on a DTV Box goes into the DVB-T tuner for digital TV reception.

The boxes do not (generally) have Analog TV tuners and so Analog TV signals (like the Analog RF output of the Atari ST) are rejected or passed through to the Analog RF output.

The same goes for boxes with RGB SCART input. It is only for pass through to the RGB SCART output. It does not get digitised and sent to the VGA connector.

If you've found a box with a REAL Analog TV tuner then it might work. But I've never heard of them and I used to design digital TV boxes.
