Hi,

On web site you found the shematic, you can create the PCB.
I have started the design for testing:
eiffel3proto.jpg

From the original, i have removed the coldfire IC & connector.
I have added
1) USB connector for direct connect the PS2/USB.
2) Led for floppy
3) The LCD with backlight can be place on board or external.
4) I use RJ45 for connecting to Mega ST, STE and TT and i have create another small PCB for easy place in 1040, with reset & floppy signal.
5) Reset push button
6) I/O connector for place inside the 1040

is prototype, i waiting part before order the PCB.

Thanks
Olivier

Hi,

ATTENTION: The schematic on the webside is wrong!!! The pin assignments of the mini-DIN connectors for keyboard and mouse
are "mirrored", means supply voltage Vcc is connected to pin 4 and ground is connected to pin 3. But this is wrong, pin 4 has to be ground
and pin 3 has to be Vcc. DATA and CLK are also wrong.
Please look at the correct schematic in eiffel.lzh archive/eiffel.hyp helptext.

Hi Latz,

Is not exactly wrong. I have checked the pinout for only.
In the .hyp File, is the pinout of keyboard connector (male), for me is wrong, that's not the way to look.
In web site is pinout of PCB female connector.

I launch PCB production for testing my theory.

Bye

Is the RJ12 connector right to connect the eiffel with a atari mega ST/MSTE or TT. Must it be not a RJ11 connector?

Hello Olivier,

olivierg wrote:Is not exactly wrong. I have checked the pinout for only.

I see what you mean (and it seems to be correct on your PCB layout).
But no matter if male or female connectors, the pin numbers must be correct.

On website (wrong):
PIN 1 --> DATA
PIN 3 --> GND
PIN 4 --> Vcc
PIN 5 --> CLK

In eiffel.hyp (correct):
PIN 2 --> DATA
PIN 3 --> Vcc
PIN 4 --> GND
PIN 6 --> CLK

The RJ11 is 4/6P the RJ12 is 6/6P.
But i use RJ45 8/8P, i can plug RJ11 and RJ12, i have create small adaptor to place in 1040 for easy connecting eiffel and use the mega & TT keuboard.

On this web site and other (http://pinouts.ru/Inputs/KeyboardPC6_pinout.shtml):
1 DATA <-> Key Data
3 GND --- Gnd
4 VCC --> Power , +5 VDC
5 CLK --> Clock

the website is correct for me.... :roll:

Hello Olivier,

i am very sorry, you are right and i was wrong! :oops:
The (somehow funny) explanation must be: Years ago i used the (wrong) eiffel.hyp schematic for my PCB layout, but the connectors i bought
had a wrong pin numbering printed on them, too. So in the end everything was correct again :lol:
