Mega ST keyboard with unrsponsive keys

Postby simonsunnyboy » Sat Oct 07, 2017 9:30 am

I have a Mega ST keyboard connected to my Falcon (thanks to Beetle). A few keys, notably 7// and äÄ do not respond but I cannot identify a complete scanning column on the keyboard matrix.

Is it worth to just try cleaning the keyboard, keycaps and the bubble foil inside?

Mega ST keyboard does not have conductive contacts foil. There are Cherry MX switched on PCB instead. Yes, they can fail over time, especially if something was spilled in them. Good news is they are generály easy to clean and repair, and there is lot of dropin replacemets available.
A trace on a PCB could be coroded as well.
If you are from EU, I can possibly fix it for you.

I will give the cleaning a try with some isopropanol when I find some free time.
