Postby Rustynutt » Mon May 01, 2017 7:59 am

Think this has been around a while, has anyone tried it on a TOS machine?

It might work with HP or classic Epson printers. I don't know.

In general, the retroprinter by RWAP is going to be a pricier but technically better solution:

If solutions get too pricey you may as well just buy an old but working dot matrix.
I know that retroprinter site says dot matrix machines are upwards of 200 quid, and that is the case for brand new modern ones, and that finding old ribbons may be difficult but... I bought a virtually brand new (as in used once and looks brand new) Panasonic 24 pin from 93 or so for what amounts to 100 quid inc shipping, and bought a brand new spare ribbon from Amazon for $6...
With the side benefit that it sounds proper and I can still use tractor feed paper!

An ability to use a network connected laser on the other hand is something I would pay for.

Not yet but the dot matrix interepreter software from the RWAP project could be tailored to run on the CosmosEX aswell Only a special device driver is necessary for printing to an ACSI printer.

IIRC Atari Laser printer support is planned for the CosmosEX. There is a discussion around this somewhere on the forum. Check the CX section.
