Project PCB for a VOFA ET4000 Graphiccard Adapter ...

Postby frank.lukas » Sat Apr 09, 2016 8:17 pm

I´am looking for people who want to have a VOFA ET4000 Graphiccard Adapter for a Atari Mega ST Bus (not Mega STE).

The price is 20,- Euro for a PCB set incl. Postage.

I can help to procure the GALs. There are two GALs on the Adapter.

MicroLabs sell 16-bit ISA ET4000 Cards these days -> http://www.microlabs.com

UltimateVGA_TrueColor.jpg

UltimateTrueColorXL2.jpg

I ask about the specs and it is looking good for a use with the Atari ST ...

NVDI ET4000 has support for the W32 Chips. The 2MB Card is very interesting for high color modes.

I have no MicroLabs Card so everything at your own risk !!!

It works also fine with the MonSTer Board.

There is a little fault on the ISA PCB, it needs a little Hardware patch. You have to solder a wire from CON2 pin8 to the ISA Slot Pin C14 (D11), see the picture. All resistors are 1k except R3 = 330 Ohm. There are no need for D2 and JP1. See the Pictures how place the components. The three 74F245 can be 74HCT245 also. IC4 is GAL "A" (IC1) and IC5 on the PCB is GAL "B" (IC2) ...

I have already PCB Sets left and I can offer completely assembled and tested adapters.

The asking Price for a assembled Adapter is 70,- Euro plus Postage with DHL insured is 16,99 Euro in to the EU.

The Adapter is using only 68k signals over the Mega Bus connector so it is possible to put the Adapter in a 260/520/1040ST Typ of Computer.

Is it possible to make a VME bus interface instead of the Megabus? Maybe a TT would handle it better.

Idek Tramielski provide the NOVA Graphiccard ET4000 Driver for the VOFA ET4000 Adapter.

-> http://silicon-heaven.org/atari/nova/VOFA/

The T0 Version is for 8-bit /256 Colour Cards and the T8 Version is for Hi-Color Cards.
When you have a card that doesn´t work ask Idek.

Cards that will not work are cards with a control PAL/GAL and cards with a GEN/SYN DAC.

There are also Drivers for the STGA ET4000 Adapter from Till Harbaum, ask Idek ...

This is brilliant. Got my adapter sorted this evening and tested it for the first time. Just stuck the drivers in the AUTO-folder and rebooted, and went straight into 1024x768x256 without any fettling/adjusting whatsoever. Now I need to figure out how to select and create new resolutions - I haven't used the NOVA driver since I sold my NOVA Falcon back in 2000 or so.

I also see the need for more horsepower. While 256 colours isn't as slow as I feared, it's still slow. I'll try to set up a monochrome resolution until I get my PAK finished...

Ask Idek for the VMG program ...

NVDI ET4000 is a bit quicker/faster but the nova driver is better for MiNT and very stable.

I don't recall having any problems with NVDI ET4000 and MiNT back when I had a TT. But that was way back with MiNT 1.15 and N.AES.

For me MiNT 1-19 works not longer with NVDI ET4000, only in 8-bit ...

helmut has a little patch for that, I think.

The Nova Software works always fine with MiNT in all resolutions.

Has anybody tested Till Harbaum's STGA ROM module with the VOFA? I tested it last night, but could not get past the monitor selection menu.
