I have re-opened the email address for ordering a testkit. If you want one or more then please send me an empty email to
order-testkit (at) team-yankee (dot) net.
I will then send you an order form to fill out and send back.

I got enough orders to keep the price. Thank you :!:
As I have re-routed some traces on the PCB for easier manufacturing, I will order a first prototype PCB. This will be manufactured the week after Easter. I will probably get it on 28th of April. Will populate it ASAP and test it. If everything works fine, I will order the PCBs for you on 29th. Then it will probably take 2 weeks till I get them. I almost got all parts right now, waiting for the EPROMs.
Will keep you informed about the status here in this thread.

If you read the order-form carefully you should know. :)
If not: good ol' Germany, Lake Constance area. 10km away from simonsunnyboy's residence.

In the old thread the question came up about compatibility with the Stacy.
Just tried the testkit on a Stacy 4: runs smoothly as expected.

Good news first: the EPROMs arrived today. I finally got all parts - except PCBs.

Bad news: I ordered another prototype and it arrived on Saturday. Something was wrong with the drillings for both ICs. I set them to 0.024" (0.61mm). I couldn't put the sockets into them - don't know why as it worked before. The socket pin's outer diameter is 0.55mm. So 0.06mm difference - not much. Maybe I bought the sockets from a different mail-order shop before.
As I want it to be exactly what I want I have changed the drill holes for the ICs to 0.032" now. I will order a new prototype. It will be manufactured next week.

The second PCB prototype arrived today and it is exactly how I wanted it in the first place.
So I will order the PCBs on sunday.

If you want the Power-LED to be of a specific colour: I can populate either red, green, yellow or amber. Drop me a line via email if you want a specific colour or no LED at all e.g. if you wish to set a blue LED.

I found out that all of my TTs had the Romport fuse blown. Then the cartridge won't work in a TT. So TT owners should check their TT's fuse. I can provide you with spare fuses (0.50€ each).
And check the inductor. One of mine was blown, too. :(

PCBs arrived yesterday - look perfect. Think I'll be finishing populating them today. Then testing them on my ST/STE/TT/F030.

You should all have gotten an email with payment details right now. If not -> email me please.
Tomorrow is a holiday so I got enough time to package all parcels.
All testkits have been tested with one of my 1040STFM/1040STE/MegaSTE/TT and Falcon030. Did a RAM-Test on all of them, all testkits are working fine.

Really looking forward to this. Have a few machines in need of some minor repairs. Hopefully the cartridge will help me find some of the more elusive problems. :)

Those who have paid via Paypal by now should have gotten an email from me with a short documentation as PDF.
Tracking numbers follow tomorrow.
For those who pay via my bank account: please drop me a line via email and let me know that you transferred the money so I can monitor the accout online in the evening.

I hope that you all will be satisfied with the quality and many ST/STE/TT/F030s will be resurrected. :D

BTW: does anybody of you own the VME-DRAM board for the testkit's use on MegaSTE/TTs ?

Nice work with the documentation :)

I know they haven't even been delivered yet, but how would the testkit work on a broken ST that doesn't show anything on screen ?

I have an ST here that either just shows a white screen, or graphics corruption - will the cart help in cases like these ?

in fact, and this may be a daft question, does the ST boot off the actual cart when it's connected, as in, does it bypass the STs hardware ?

cheers :)

Depends. I suggest that you grab the appropriate schematics and service manual for your "patient" here http://dev-docs.atariforge.org/
You may then use a Nullmodem cable and attach it to another computer (PC/Atari, whatever with a RS-232 and a terminal program). If at least RAM and CPU/MFP are working then the test cart will send the menu over the serial line to the other computer and you can remote control the dead unit. If the Atari is dead then see the chapter "Troubleshooting a dead unit" in the service manual. But I assume that you need a scope then. I've been able to resurrect STs with that chapter and a scope (Multimeter is often too slow).

From what you write I assume that the ST isn't completely dead so you may try the Nullmodem solution I described before.
I just recently had a look into Atari ST Intern 1. Here is a commented disassembly of (probably Disk based TOS 1.0) the Boot code. As far as I see it the TOS ROMs, DRAM and CPU need to work to start the cart's own code. CPU runs the code in TOS ROMs and inits IRQ vectors and system variables below 1K then checks for a diag cart and jumps there.

cheerio, Arne
