USB.ACC shouldn't be in the AUTO folder, just at the top level.

The order should be....

USB.PRG
STORAGE.PRG
UNICORN.PRG

You can rename STORAGE.PRG to STORAGE.PRX to see if it boots to the desktop without it.

What version of TOS are you using ? and when did you download the drivers ?

How do I change the order? I am not sure from where I got the drivers from, but DL them this tuesday. The file name is "usb-13122016.zip"

Removing STORAGE did nothing. It's an STE with that rainbow effect on the Fuji, not sure where I can see the exact version.

You have to use Autosort.prg, a useful prog to sort the order of the Auto folder.
https://sites.google.com/site/stessential/system-tools/autosort

Or manually, delete everything
and copy one by one in the order needed.

Alanh, could you post the latest drivers?
Thanks!

Thanks Crashman! I did copy it in order, from what I found on a website. But I wasn't sure that would work, my memory about TOS is a bit hazy :) . I am going to try and delete the AUTO folder and redo it... cross you fingers!

I was actually over at freemint, but couldn't figure out what was what. Anyway, there must have been something wrong with the disk, because once I copied all files over to another disk, its now booting. But what do I do after that? I have the .ACC running and I tried to install a new C drive, but no cigar. How do I add the Unicorn as a drive?

You probably need to check that the partitions are something that the Atari can see. You could use HDDRUTIL.APP for that.

Uhm... I don't have any means to copy any new ST files to floppy here. I am really not too technical, a manual would have been great!! Is there any step by step to get this working?

Don't have time to write manuals I'm afraid, it's a case of ask a question and I'll reply.

But any manual for partitioning a hard drive on an Atari should apply now. The Atari doesn't know the USB storage device is any different from a true hard drive.

Thanks for the link Troed, missed that post! Just what I am looking for... I guess there's no way of doing partitioning with the TOS then? In that case I am going to have to DL the HDDriver and put it on an USB an bring it to my moms computer that still has a floppy.

I found HDDRIVER 10 demo version, I assume that will work too or do I need the 9.02 version?

I'm sure it'll work with 10 demo version :) Just remember that a 512KB partition will only be usable for the tiniest of tests.

What?! 512KB 8O? I thought it was 512MB? How am I supposed to get a decently sized partition? :)

Surely there's other software than HDDRIVER to get the Unicorn working?! Any tips would be very welcome. Because if I have to pay an additional €45 to get my Unicorn working, I would regret buying it :( I thought it would be possible to initialize the drive from TOS ...

I think the free CBHD has a partitioner which should also work.

There are other ways of partitioning, like on Linux with atari-fdisk though.

Thanks for your reply Alanh! I found free CBHD, its just a cbhd502.tos file... zero documentation :? Going to give it a try this the weekend. I also found AHDI v6.061 will give it a try also.

I don't have a Linux installation, I think I have a Linux boot CD, that I have never used. Have zero experience with Linux... maybe I can boot from the CD and run atari-fdisk from CMD line?? Isn't there atari-fdisk for Windows? Oh man, all of this is giving me a headache.. if I ever get this working, I will try and make a tutorial video for others!

AHDI won't work as it doesn't support the SCSIDRV standard.

CBHD502.TOS needs running on your Atari to unpack lots of files. It's also in German.

Welcome to Atari, it's not like todays machines..... Get stuck in.

Well, this is no different from any other hard disk you could buy for you ST. There are no hd drivers in TOS so whatever hard disk (or hd emulator) you want to use you need a driver. HD Driver is still being actively developed by Uwe for our beloved retro hardware :)

Ok, scratch that then...

That is doable, I can copy it to disk on my moms old PC. My German isn't great though ... but I do understand it somewhat.

Isn't there a PC way to partition it then? I am sorry, but I hardly know what to look for her! As I said, I am not that tech savvy, I am just a poor graphics artist that want to recover some of my old work disks! :)

I have now tried ICD Pro and CBHD. CBHD just complains about a "missing cookie jar" at boot and refuses to start the driver. ICD Pro seems to be working better, but no luck detecting the memory stick.

I have the following in my AUTO folder:
1: icdboot.prg
2: usb.prg
3: storage.prg
4: unicorn.prg

Everything boots nicely and the USB stick is detected, see attached picture. But then as I try and partition it, there are no SCSI devices detected.
