Not related to this thread at all, but actually some do. The STacy has some, for example:

Just sayin'... :)

Ah right, I was just referring to ST(e). Good to know Atari was not ALWAYS cheap!

So I'd be interested in your opinion of the orientation of the board, given the board is currently about 85mm x 75mm.

The STE version could also come with a 68000 DIL socket for other upgrades for people with rehoused STE's, but I want to know from people with cased STE's on their preference of orientation given the above size of the board.

Do you have a suggestion ?

if you need a stfm board with 4MB and tos1x 2*chip type to muck about with has plcc 68000
ill send one happily ...

Do you mean an STE board ?

They're always useful. But it's probably cheaper for me to just buy another.

I would also help in any way I could to get this working on a STFM - I have a 540STfm and really would love to get an IDE->CF in there, i'm so sick of floppy drives!

Could this actually get IDE and TOS above 1.04 in a STfm? I'd be really interested, ST's are so hard to come by in my area it was near impossible just to track down a STfm... :coffe:

Very interesting project!

I would buy a soldered one with Adapter for my 1040STE.

Although i would prefer 44 pin IDE sockets than 40. They need less space on your board and you can directly connect 2,5" IDE devices which could fit inside the case and need less power than 3,5" ones. So for up to two 2,5" devices the internal power supply should be enough.

I did think of 44 pin, but there are many IDE->CF adapters that are 40pin, and not so many that are 44 pin.

But for 44pin hard drives, you can easily get 44 pin to 40 pin cables and then you can use a "Berg to Molex" to get from the floppy power to more power outlets internally with additional splitters.

The "Berg to Molex" I mean is this....

If you're going to make these kits available someday, I'm completely sold already.

I think I'll be revisiting using 44 pin connectors......

One thing to note, is that space inside later STFM's with the 68000 right underneath the keyboard has actually less space than an STE.

The only real way to fit to an STFM and get the shielding and keyboard back on is to use a socket with 2.54mm wire (about 1" to 2") to another 68000 socket and have the ability to reposition the 68000 a bit further forward.

Here's a rendered image of the board for the STE. I've just sent away for 3 boards, then I'll solder them manually to check things out.

I've left the TOS 2.06 pins on this one. I may take them off future boards, who knows......

This looks great. In which socket does it plug in the STE?

Alan, I'm gonna commit for -1- unit for a standard ST (not STe).

Thanks!

Thanks all. I'll try and confirm some pricing once I have the 3 STE boards back and soldered up. Obviously quantities matter in these things too, but I will try and keep it as cheap as possible.
