Are you sure it wasn't 2.05 instead of 2.5? Check this version out. Not sure if it's registered or not since it was shareware. Please let me know after you try it.

How do you check the version number? I loaded it briefly as an .ACC to make sure it worked but didn't see an "About Dialog" anywhere with version information. The LIESMICH.TXT for the Freedom.205 folder does say it is version 2.05.

I've never heard of Freedom 2.5 - if there was, it never appeared on public domain disks or in ST-Computer magazine.

there you go,

fred205.zip

i cannot find english anywhere, but here are the changes, ive translated some english docs. i only have liberty from 2.04, not the 2.05 version, if there is infact one.

D 'Changes'
************

Users of Freedom 1.x should * absolutely * complete this guide
read through to be informed about the variety of changes.
But to get an overview, here are the most important ones
Changes since version 1.15 listed.

D.1 Version V2.05 ("Nobody is Perfect!")
=========================================

ù The file name input field of Freedom2 and the file name
Info dialog was faulty in 'long file name mode'. The
At MTOS and NAES users led this to uselessness for usability
Field or crash! Under MagiC, users are talking about
Instability and character in the input field wondered.
(Thanks for the detailed bug report from the Czech Republic!)

ù 'VA_FILECHANGED' is now shared by Freedom2 (rudiment "r)
evaluated. When a file info is handled through the AV server
and you change the file name, should now be the
Update Freedom2 window. (To Jens: AV_PATH_UPDATE was / fast /
right!)

ù The evaluation of the configuration of the maximum pop-up size was
faulty. Not any longer longer...

ù The file symbol file for the monochrome display changes:
The symbols should now be better (especially in smaller size)
to be recognized. (Yeah, finally!)

ù If no file name is specified in the input field (for example, field with ESC
gel), this empty filename becomes the calling one
Application now also passed. Eliminates i.a. the problem of
Filter deselection in CAT. (All problems now eliminated Rainer?)

ù Freedom2 or the config eCPX is now looking for the
Configuration file also in the 'HOME' directory. Essential
more comfortable in 'multi-user' environments.

ù Small change in 'Trouble Bubble': The balloon should now
no longer protrude beyond the edge of the screen. (Report: Mikael
from Sweden)

ù There is a new eCPX: CaDance. This is separated from
Freedom2 distributed in its own archive.

ù New 'Liberty' version included. See 'Changes' in Liberty ...

... to be continued ...

D.2 Version V2.04 ("Finally ...")
======================================

ù Found the bugs that have been since the first release of
Freedom2 to properly save the config on drives
prevented with long filenames (keyword: LIBERTY E-f-int).
Many 'inexplicable' errors with users of file systems
long file names should be a thing of the past.

ù Built in a decent-looking resizer. Of course that is
Ding down right a vector icon ...

ù The 'Finder' (the search program) could be configured,
but was not called when the magnifying glass was pressed. Until that
someone noticed it took a long time. Use only
few. Anyway, let's go!

ù USERDEF stack increased. I hope the PCI Macs at just under 8k :-(
Stack finally give rest! Freedom2 is so already now
4k taller.

ù New 'Liberty' version included. See 'Changes' in Liberty ...
(...A lot has happened!)

ù eradicated an age-old error:
The (e) CPXs of Freedom2 could so far with 'APPL_FIND'
but not received with 'APPL_WRITE' messages
(which they should). Just drop!

ù The eCPX 'Trouble Bubble' now goes into the version number 2 and
understand the 'BubbleGEM' protocol! (Note the 'trouble
Bubble 'part of this documentation.)
In addition, some details and the look of 'Trouble Bubble'
changed something.

ù By popular request, the documentation drilled out. Especially the
Description of the format strings was missing. Is now in
Annex to find.

ù I still have a few mistakes (nothing b! ses!) known, but there I am
think that the above changes are already a release value,
I'll release this intermediate version (still without font
Selection CPX).

D.3 Version V2.03 ("... unfortunately still a difficult mistake ...")
================================================== ===================

ù Due to nonsense, misinterpretation as well as
Stability loss (certain characters could cause the config-
I mess with the evaluation)
'Fuller', 'Closer' and the up and down arrow against vector icons
exchanged. (The most obvious innovation of F2.) So
eliminates the configurability of the symbols via the Konfig eCPX.
(Configurable, but still ... (how do I tell
another time...))

ù For some Freedom2 dialogues, the look of the
Input fields not (for example in the object info). Corrected.

ù The USERDEF stack has been increased again because of problems
with PCI Macs gave. The stack has now grown from 3.2 to 4kB.
If you still have problems (screen message),
then please let me know. Lack of PCI-Mac I can not do that
test.

ù Config-CPX: Whether the autolocator for drives with long
File-name case-sensitive or insensitv compares is now
adjustable. (Thanks to M.D. ;-))

Freedom2 now sorts file names and file extensions independently
of uppercase and lowercase letters. On case-sensitive drives
Consequently, the file 'ABC' should now be at the file 'abc';
Regardless of whether files with different initials
exist. Using the uppercase and lowercase order
decides the physical order of the files on the
Partition. This also applies to the extension popup and
Directories.

ù Freedom2 should now work better with MiNT memory protection
cope. This is u.a. to be attributed to that
Vector bending eCPXs are now loaded into global storage
(e.g., WindScreen). Therefore necessarily also the attached eCPXs new
to install!

ù Added 'Liberty' version. Freedom2 is now running
also 'pending' under N.AES.

D.4 Version V2.02 ("... it gets better and better!")
===============================================

ù _... found many wrong mistakes again: _

ù Fixed crash when selecting the 'empty' clipboard
(Error was actually in Liberty - new Liberty version so
absolutely install!)

The transfer of long file names to Freedom should now
fold

ù CPX keyboard shortcut is now taken into account

ù 'Alerts' remain switched off even after selecting the ACC entry
if they are configured

ù F2 Config was not completely error free yet:
- Saving or setting the settings without an icon file resulted
a crash
- Save / Set in the Config dialog "Lists" led to a
crash
- $ hid was duplicated: 'Show hidden files' can now
be configured
- Time slice values ??are now evaluated correctly
- Ok / Swap Abort works now
- the selector size for long file names is taken into account

ù New 'Liberty' version included

I hope that is sufficient :)

Ok the reason I asked is because I did find a full installation and the .ACC and .CPX were byte for byte matches. I really don't know how to tell if it's registered. Looking through the hex editor is v2.05 from Sept 1998. It does have a folder with the English ACC and CPX but in the hex editor these show as v2.04 from June 1998.

Anyway here it is https://www.dropbox.com/s/6czaj75umz4kawl/FreedomD.205.zip?dl=1

*Edit* I don't see anything in the documentation that says it is restricted or crippled in any way. It only suggests paying the shareware fee to help support the programmers. Also, the documentation says the HELP key will pull up the info window.

Added E-Copy 1.72 English version.

This was the last official release so it is nice to finally have the English version to add to the German one.

Hi,

I tried getting NVDI from the OP link, but it seems down.
So I found it from another source (atariancomputing I think), it comes with a serial number in the ZIP.
But there's no mention in the packaged of it being actually abandonware.
Is that mention present in the package that was available in OP ?

I read the whole topic, and the posts page 3/4 where NVDI is mentionned are not fully cealr about that.
Has the authot written womewhere that he was releasing the software ?
I can still find it for sale online so I'm wondering.
