EmuCON: Small and nice command-line interpreter

Postby BlankVector » Thu Nov 17, 2016 9:40 pm

EmuCON is a small and nice command-line interpreter for any Atari computer (similar to Mupfell, TomShell, etc.) . It features command-line history, TAB completion, and more. It is the easiest way to run TTP programs without having to retype the whole command line for each run.

EmuCON has always been embedded into EmuTOS, now it is also available as standalone executable. Go to the EmuTOS download page and get emucon-*.zip from there.

Nice one! Will have to check that out, though with the keyboard on my Falcon I'm not sure my usual preference for typing over mousing applies :)

I think that the console is the most important feature of emutos and something that was lacking from the original atari tos.

Does it support batch programming? Maybe possible to run startup-batches on TOS boot? (place emucon with a autoexec.bat into autofolder, or something like that?)
Power without the Price. It's not a bug. It's a feature. _/|\_ATARI

By design, EmuCON does not support batch files. It is only intended to be a simple command-line interpreter, convenient to occasionally run TTP programs.

For simplest batch file support in EmuCON2, patch from this mail could be used as starting point:
https://sourceforge.net/p/emutos/mailma ... /35154343/

(With that, EmuCON2 will at start read a file and execute commands listed in it, patch doesn't add any programmability.)

For real batching it's better to use some already existing full shell. For single TOS, I would suggest Gulam, it's very small and includes even OKish text editor.
