Master Tracks Pro and .MTS files

Postby Clive » Sat Jul 26, 2014 10:27 am

Hello,
I don't know if you could help me, but I have some recorded material in the .MTS file format created using Master Tracks Pro on an Atari 520ST. I got these .MTS files onto my computer and I got them to play out on the emulated Master Tracks Pro with Steem. But I couldn't get it's MIDI OUT to send out any info, although I am not technical I have used midi for over 20 years and have tried everything I know to make it work, but no luck. I believe the fault lies in this software or in Steem, but I know my MIDI OUTS work and they have been routed correctly.
So having given up on that, I wanted to use these .MTS files on the latest version of Master Track Pro for Windows, but it wouldn't accept them, and their help desk almost immediately directed me towards the Atari Forums...... So here I am ! These .MTS files are basically just midi files in an incompatible (with everything !) format, and I was just wondering if anybody here knows if they could modified them to be compatible.
Thanks for any help you could give me on any of these problems

Clive

Hi
There are a few MTP users around, I am not one of them ... yet! There are some active on the Atari ST musicians Network on facebook. or AMN Atari Music Network

If you want to try the PC route I would look out an earlier version of the same or closer time period to the ST release.

On the STeem front plenty of users here.. some midi too.

good luck

I'm using Steem on Windows 7 64 with MIDI in/out to USB Cable to run Master Tracks Pro and it "almost" works - Most of the MIDI signals/Channels are correct, but not all, and it gets jumbled and lagging - Does anyone know the correct internal (Steem?) setting to fix this? Thanks!

Answers are slow here... :D
If "jumbled and lagging" means messy timings, it's due to neither Intel processors nor Windows are made for tight timings, which btw. was the reason for late arrival of pro sequencers on the platform.

I've never used MIDI on a "Wintel", but I think some special drivers are needed, and there's a guide somewhere... however I don't recall where.
