Sord M5 core

Postby omikron » Mon Sep 09, 2019 12:58 pm

Hello,

Is somebody planning to make Sord M5 core for MiSTer?
It uses the same video chip as MSX.

Z80 based little systems like the Sord M5 should not be too difficult
As many arcades also used the Z80. The schematics are online, so
it is good as reference. What do you run on it apart from the
Basic language available as Roms ?

Games in both cartridges and from tape.
The tape interface is bit banged, just like in ZX Spectrum.

Sord contins Nec's gate array. But it is documented and contains address decoders for memory and IO, and ports to send a byte to printer and to relay that remote controls the tape's motor.

It contains rare TI's sound generator, but it exists in VHDL.
From internal chips, Z80-CTC is the only one thing I havent in VHDL.

There is also well documented mod PCB that allows switchable All RAM mode and run CP/M at wdc2797.
