It's not rough, it's the community project. I've already spent enough time to find P/N for USB 1.0 while i don't order many components online. Why i need to spend more time for you? I do this for free and depending on my willing and free time.
It's not like you grab everything and run away. It's about developing together, documenting together and so on.

I guess for some parts the numbers are irrelevant, although for complete n00bs such as myself the type of component is useful to know, but you can always ask your local store...

It's not really possible. Local component stores here are like super market - many boxes around where you pick components by yourself. The stuff there aren't aware on such details besides what is written on boxes. For connectors/passives there are no P/N except descriptions like "DC socket 2.1mm".

Besides DC socket i don't remember any new components on USB v1.1... So, new capacitors are from already listed in BOM. So, it's just a matter to review.

Hi Sorgelig,

as I already wrote, in the BOM for rev 1.0 13 capacitors are listed, but on the boards of version 1.1 i count 16 capacitors.
Sorry to bother you. This project is obviously not for me.

Just to say that I got my board from Donald1705. They look great!

Thanks!

Hello,
Thank you for this great DE10 FPGA project.
I have not been a friend of RASPI so far, but this FPGA is really fun !! Many Thanks.

I have a question:
So far I have used a 4x USB OTG adapter, but I need more USB ports.
That's why I bought the 7x USB board now.

The original DE10 power supply also produces exactly 5V. (also on the back of my 4x OTG USB Apdapter).
With the new 7x USB board, the voltage goes down to 4.7-4.8Volt.

I've tried it after, now a 3A used power supply, but that brings as open circuit voltage to 5.2V.

I would therefore like to operate the MISTER DE10 with a 5V power supply and
best also the external 7x USB board with a second power supply.
power2.jpg

is with this newer board with lateral power connection also a soldering bridge which I must open? so that the two 5V voltages do not touch?
Or is not it bad if two power supplies are operated simultaneously? But so gets the DE10 probably over the USB OTG the second operating voltage purely?

Thank you
Greetings Mikel

USB hub should be powered either from USB host or from external connector, not both at the same time!
So, if your USB connector has 5V wire then you have to cut the bridge, but i suggest simply don't solder 5V wire from USB.

Hello Sorgelig,
Thank you for your quick response and your great job. :)
YES! it works, if i am not solder USB (ID) voltage at the plug.

For power supply I would have only one more question:
It is certainly not good if you have too little voltage , but it is certainly not good if you have too much Voltage (5V DC).

How do you estimate the limits?
Once for the DE10 board and once for the USB board?

Are 4.7V rather bad or still ok? (for example at the MISTER)
Are 5,3V on the USB board rather too much and can make problems?
May the voltage on the USB board be higher than on the MISTER board? (with two different power supplies)

Thanks and regards

5V is not used on DE10-nano except USB output and ADC chip. It uses DC-DC converters for 3.3V and other lower voltages.

The extra capacitor footprints are just for alternative placements of the USB ports, total number is the same. I put together a BOM here.

I have a problem with the Hub Board 1.1. I have soldered and does nothing. LED15 has to light up only with the power cable? Or it need the USB host cable? The USB host cable only need GND, D+ and D-?
Thank you

ID pin should be grounded as usual for all host cables.

Guess what the "Local Sellers Thread" is for :D
Local Sellers for MiSTer Expansion Boards

You should ask Donald1705 is he has some abvailable as hes's the only one selling USB Hubs at the moment Link

Sven (Donald1705) has a little bit work overload as far as I know .... just give him some time!
