A C65 clone in FPGA

Postby Paradroyd » Thu Dec 03, 2015 11:23 pm

It looks like someone is working on creating a clone of a C65 in FPGA!

This is probably not new, but it's the first I've heard of it.

I've actually met these people on the Amiga30 party in Neuss. One of them even comes from the same city as me.

Yes, it should be possible to port this. Now if someone could please extend the day by three or four hours ...

"THE64" doesn't seem to be an FPGA but an ARM emulator device.
(other than that they seem to have very vague details so caveat emptor, but the mini keyboard computer idea is neat at least)

Dunno if anyone cares but the source for Mega65 (the FPGA C64/C65)

I even tried to port it to MiSTer. The code is in very beginning stage. It exploits Xilinx ability to synthesize non-synthesizable code. Most likely the code is being written by people who just start to learn HDL programming. I think it still needs couple years to wait for well organized code. Then it will be possible to port to other boards.

P.S.: there is no way to port it to MiST. Core requires a lot of BRAM.
