Amenophis, you should try to get word of the project to Canard PC (or their forums at least). I met briefly some of the guys editing Dream back in the day, and they would be all over this if they are still active.

You may also want to connect with Individual Computers to provide cases for their upcoming Amiga Reloaded project.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your comments.

We're indeed already in touch with Individual Computers.
Good catch regarding Canard PC, we'll working on that.

The KS campaign will be launched again some days after this one is finished.
We're going to edit some infos and provide more datas regarding the different costs, so that people may have a better understanding of the pledge level and KS campaign Goal set.

You can all stay in touch through our contact list: http://www.a1200.net

Cheers,

The previous campaign failed (goal not reached) for various reasons (it was too short, unsufficiently prepared, and occured during summer vacation :).

Don't worry, you credit card was not charged !

How about a small Amiga 1200 style case for the mist allowing to use the PCB from some small mobile usb keyboard plus some Amiga replacement keycaps and an optical USB mouse in Amiga style. And the same thing in Atari ST style ...

Does anyone have a spare broken St mouse? I'd like to try the optical St USB mouse idea first ...

That would be really great Till, as it would retain the practical and portable package of the MIST but with a more adapted casing (keeping the "retro" feeling as well).

I would kill for a good optical mouse that had the deep "thud" clicks of my ST's mouse. It makes every click feel so... meaningful.

Dear friends,

We've updated our FB page as well as the KS page with latest news regarding where we're at for the keycaps and the internal A1200 keyboards.

We need to delay these campaigns, as of now we haven't found any suitable solution regarding the overall manufacturing costs of the keycaps.

As some of you may know, Amiga keycaps have a special "mount" made by Mitsumi back in the time. And mitsumi stopped manufacturing these a decade ago. As this kind of mounts are not manufactured anymore, this lead to build 8 types of diff keys molds!
Why 8 types ?
Because the Amiga line of computers have 5 diff profiles of keys (diff height), and there is also 3 special keys.

So based on our last month work, a full Amiga keycaps set compatible with all Amiga computers (Except the A600 and some early A500,A2000) would cost around €141! And that is for a minimum of 1000 ordered sets.

You can find more infos regarding this issue on our FB page or over the KS page.

We still continue to work on that to find a better and less costly solution.

Thanks for your support and share our efforts and KS page with all your contacts and friends ;)

Cheers,
Team A1200.NET

Hi Guys,

The campaign is about to reach 70%, thanks to all of you!

It still needs a small push, and we need all of you that did not supported the campaign yet.

This campaign, by making new Amiga 1200 cases with all included benefits, is the first time in 20+ years that new housings are manufactured for the Amiga 1200.

Hopefully this will also help the Amiga community to stop decaying, and maybe even by getting long lost Amiga users back to it and start the user base to grow again (with IC Reloaded motherboards).

As you already probably know, we're currently working on making new Keycaps and new Keyboards as well. And we have a couple more hardware projects as well

So if you haven't contributed to the campaign yet on any reward and even if you don't need an Amiga 1200 case, you can always support it by getting the new Official Amiga Mugs !

As Amiga fans, your support is greatly appreciated.

Impressive! I seriously hope this succeeds.

And in the next campaign you'll build a1200 keyboards, won't you?

Exactly MasterOgGizmo,

But we're going to launch the keyboards kickstarter at the same time we launch the keycaps kickstarte, because it is two different line of products/manufacturing processes.
Also because people willing to get only key caps replacement sets are maybe not willing to buy a full new keyboard.

Of course we'll keep you updated on that ;)

@amenophis

Maybe it wpuld only work for a minority, but you could try adding something with WHDLoad and (separately) Workbench licenses ...

@Newsdee,

We've tried to get in touch with Cloanto, but to no avail.
And for WHDLoad we haven't thought of that really, and it's a bit late already i guess :)

Thanks for your suggestions ;)

Congratulations on a successful campaign!

@masterofgizmo: I'm sure a kickstarter for the MiST would fly BUT we'd (the community) have to deal with lots of "newbie" end-users as a result. The recent failure of the Retro VGS gave some exposure to FPGA systems, so it might be a good time if that's something you and/or Lotharek would be interested in. Then again I like the "do whatever you want no promises" approach we have right now :)
