of course, we can always remap a gamepad to keyboard with the .ini file. Just bringing up the standard to make it easier to have the core in the same SD card as others. :D

There is an internal gamepad passed to cores which map to these;
which are based on the NES / SNES layout:

1 = A
2 = B
3 = SELECT
4 = START
5 = X
6 = Y
7 = L
8 = R
(+4 more buttons not used by any core right now)

If I'm not mistaken the Aquarius uses six buttons so I'd suggest this kind of layout:

Now perhaps the firmware needs some change to pass in two extra buttons to the core, though...

I put the mapping in the OT. I used joystick from user_io and that only gives 4 directions + A/B + select/start. How do you access this internal gamepad ? Do you know where I can find an example of that ?

ah I see... the internal gamepad is in the firmware, USB controllers map into it and we use it to map to keyboard keys.

I guess the problem then is that we only send four buttons to the 8-bit cores (A/B/select/start) right now. Not sure if we can add an optional extra byte while keeping it backwards compatible with other cores.

This is probably my last update for a while. I may add tape support in the future but I'll switch to other things for now.

I have no idea how tape loading would work on the Aquarius but other cores like the C64 have the option for program "injection" where the program is direct loaded into the machine's memory.. not sure if that helps any but it might be an alternate way to load programs.

Hi, I am new mist owner. From reading the readme.txt, I can only have one game on SD card called aquarius.rom?

Is there an easy way to have multiple aquarius games on SD card?

Thanks

The attached game can be selected via OSD, you can have multiple games on one card.

Return to “MiST”
