I'm a little confused... C.I.D. is short for "Criminals In Disguise"... I guess this has nothing to do with that group, right?

What group should I post then or should I simply put "Mouse Master" as releaser?

C.I.D. is just short for Cracktros/Intros/Demos, nothing to do with "Criminals In Disguise"

"Retro PlayThrus" is fine for group, since I'm doing this in connection with the YouTube channel.

And Mouse Master is fine.

2 more disks are complete, coming in the coming months, with another disk about 95% complete, building up my backlog for when real life interferes, not that it matters.....

Thanks!

Ok I have placed it here:

https://demozoo.org/productions/202318/

Thanks a lot for the release... it even had a "new" crack-intro not in the archive yet (Thundercats-Trainer).

Any idea who pixeled the Fox?

Original Source - https://openclipart.org/detail/210142/i ... ts-npc-fox

Site is currently not up (Openclipart The website is under maintenance.), another posting - https://publicdomainvectors.org/en/free ... 61434.html

Not sure who drew the original as the image is on various PD clip art sites. I did the color reduction (with GIMP) conversion to PI1 (with Xconvert) and touch up, hadn't used Degas Elite in over 25 years!

To be honest, I think that was the most enjoyable part of putting this disk together, tweaking that fox to look decent on the ST, at least the fox looks decent to me! ;)

Thanks!

Mouse Master: you have a very good video quality of your captures... i was thinking of getting the same capture equipment, but i do wonder if it is limited at 60hz capture only?

Hello Stefan,

No, it is not limited to 60hz, it does 50hz just as well. The majority of the Youtube posts should be in 50 fps. The recording software takes the incoming frame rate and saves that way to an MP4, and if the frequency changes, like 60 to 50hz, a new file is created on the spot. I can not speak for the mono ST screen, but that problem might be more OSSC related.

For example. in this posted video, you can see the change happen, although I use the video production software to output a video that is totally 50 frames per second -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItxYCZ7Uc9A

Go to about 0:51 and you will notice the screen changing, and that is the hertz change from my 1040 STf, 60 to 50..

It is kind of cheesy, but I leave the hertz change from my US ST in all the videos, but encode to the most used framerate. So, if something runs at 60 hz, I encode and post at 60 frames per second, and if 50, I do the same. It is the real experience, at least for us in the US. (old man voice) I can remember messing with my Goldstar SC1224 to make the scrolling stop early on with 50hz software. ;)

One thing to note is that there is some occasional frame dropping, not every time, but sometimes. That may be caused by the HDMI splitter I am using, since the Startech device does not have a HDMI pass thru. I can't say I have ever really noticed it causing a problem in a finished video, but I think if something was paused in the exact from, it might be caught.

I use Shotcut for assembling video (I could not justify paying Adobe for Premiere) and actually set the output frame rate as the last step right before encoding.

Hopefully something of use was in the above, and let me know if you have more questions!

Well, first time I have been home to post this since my April post!!! I have been on the road for 11 weeks since the last week of April, and back on it again this coming weekend.......

I have attached two disks. Disk 5 was released on August 2. Companion blog -> https://www.retroplaythrus.com/2019/08/ ... k-005.html

Disk 6 was just posted 5 minutes ago. Companion Blog -> https://www.retroplaythrus.com/2019/09/ ... k-006.html

Disk 7 is near complete, slated for release on Oct 2. Unfortunately travel has not allowed me time to start making an 8th disk yet....... Hopefully that changes...

More releases!

Disk 7 was released on Oct 2, Blog Post -> https://www.retroplaythrus.com/2019/10/ ... k-007.html

Disk 8 was released on Nov 2, Blog Post -> https://www.retroplaythrus.com/2019/11/ ... k-008.html

Plan on releasing 4 disks in December, starting with disk 9 on Dec 2, and, of course, it is planned that I am away again that day!

Except for a couple New Year's demos on the last disk (#12) of December, everything will be Christmas related, and compacting is taking a back seat.

This also goes along with posting 25+ Christmas related Atari ST captures on Youtube, starting Dec 1.

The aspect ratio of your videos seems wrong by the way, they are stretched vertically

Update: ouch, I just realized they are in 60 Hz, the tunes are played too fast as well.

Hello,

I don't think things are stretched, at least I hope not, I try to make sure the aspect ratio is correct. Lotek mentioned the same thing on one item I posted.

When in 50 Hz, the OSSC (that is the scan doubler) sees the ST's resolution at 320x288 and then that is upscaled (line 4x) to 1280x1152
When in 60 Hz, the OSSC (that is the scan doubler) sees the ST's resolution at 320x240 and then that is upscaled (line 4x) to 1280x960

As for the recorded frequency, I believe at this point that most videos have been captured at 50 Hz. For the videos recorded at 60 Hz, the item running did not set the frequency to run at, so the default of my 1040 STf was used.

From that point, I then finalize the video to upload to Youtube at the frequency it was captured at, hence the 1080p60 choice on Youtube.
