Here is the thread troed talks about in the overscan tricks presentation: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4357 (it's long, but basically worth reading all through)

Sorry for double post but I probably should add this here, too:

Here's another recording (of Troeds talk) with some of the people answering and asking questions in frame. Would be probably nice to annotate who's who.

Thanks! The sound quality seems to be better in your recording, and I would love to at least cut partly to your video from Adam's especially when people ask questions. Would you mind sending me the source file so that I could do such an edit when I find time?

(I got Adam's source file and made an attempt at cleaning up the audio as well as intro/outro:ing it, cutting away the Powerpoint struggle etc, and published here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJvcfjuXQVg )

Or if anyone else with more l33t skills than me (I only play around in iMovie) want to do this I would .. you know .. be extremely happy ..

I mentioned in my talk, as a reply to Adam, that I would release source code on how you can detect the different wakestates yourself. So instead of finishing up Closure for release I've spent new years eve doing just that ;)

As an update to my own blog post on the talk there's a .zip archive attached which includes source code for a program/bootsector which will detect whether it's run on an ST in wakestate 1,2,3 or 4 - or on an STE - using a single carefully constructed scanline of sync-tricks. Feel free to use in your own productions.

Why boot sector? Well, if you want to test your code in all wakestates you sometimes have to power cycle A LOT OF TIMES to get into all wakestates .. the quicker the turnaround the better.

Enjoy - and Happy New Years!

(How this is different from Paulo's old utility that some of you might already use? If you only want an AUTO program and only need it to work in ST low then they will work exactly the same, no need to switch)

The questions are somtimes difficult to understand, notably Mr Bee. Can we have subtitles? :-) https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en

I have remark on the overscan timings at 27:00 in the video. You moved the instructions around so that you can fit the code to the state machine and have the longest possible space for code. That's why they are on 0,8,16 and not on 4,30,54.

This gives me the idea to write a demo screen demoing the overscan techniques. That could be fun.
