Re: How I found some original Atari ST ASIC designs

The output of a flip flop changes at the active clock edge. Assuming the input changes at the same clock and edge (it doesn't have to), yes, the output follows one cycle later. I was thinking about the DPR ref. PT030 in Sheet 29 that gets the "start line" decision as input. The counter (N...

I don't claim it's definitely fixed, but there are chances the new 3.9.4 version can recover from BLIT ERROR.

Re: How I found some original Atari ST ASIC designs

Is this not exactly what I've deduced before? It's nice to see it confirmed by the schematics of course :) It's also the reason for the (so far not used by anyone I believe) +4 and +6 lines possible to create on STE. From the writeup on the wiki: The following pseudo code describes how PRELOAD gets...

Re: How I found some original Atari ST ASIC designs

Yep, it is easier to read schematics :) He he  DPR and DPS are synchronous flip flops with async reset and (pre)set respectively. The circuit at the output with the two NOR gates is an SR-latch. That's the register that actually holds the state of the internal HSYNC signal. Thx again... Do...

Re: How I found some original Atari ST ASIC designs

So I could match the horizontal sync generator schematic on sheet 26 with some of ijor's pseudo-code (values 101, 111, 121, 127...). Guess it's easier with the blueprints than looking directly at the chip. :) But on the right of the "comparators", there are rectangles called DPR and DPS. O...

Re: How I found some original Atari ST ASIC designs

OK thx, it starts to make sense.
There's also MDE1 and MDE1B for example: bit 1 of shift mode set and cleared respectively.
I'll try to match this sheet with your pseudo-code for HSYNC and come back with more questions.
One last today: what could be the ubiquitous PORB?

Re: How I found some original Atari ST ASIC designs

Thx. Funny but my google searches didn't deliver. Do you reckon the schematics are precise and complete enough to write a GLUE-MCU video logic for emulation? Too bad the STE Shifter is still a black box. I don't know if you plan to release some analysis in the near future, in that case there...

Re: Steem SSE 3.9

To be fair we all do what we can but giving support isn't much fun compared with improving emulation or introducing exciting features. I certainly didn't branch Steem to give support but that's the way it is.

Re: How I found some original Atari ST ASIC designs

Hi
Has somebody analysed the schematics for the GLUE-MCU?
Did I miss the thread?
I've started doing it but not being in the field, I've more questions than answers...
For instance, what are those trapeziums called "SAB"?

Re: Steem SSE 3.9

I would to ask what is situation, what are plans about Linux builds ? As I see latest v. for Linux is 3.7 . I'm aware that it is lot of extra work, so other platform has priority. And Linux distros make it not easy in fact. They make lot of changes, so old builds may not work as well. I experienced...

Release of v3.9.4 is planned for the end of this month, which is this week.
Steem Thursday will be a bigger event than Black Friday, and more disinterested.

Re: STE 16 Pixel Trick

Here's an explanation for the trick. When writing on address $FF8264, the HSCROLL register in the Shifter is modified. When writing on address $FF8265, the HSCROLL register in the Shifter is modified, and the "prefetch" flag in the Glue is changed (set if value<>0, cleared otherwise). Timi...

Re: Steem SSE 3.9.3. Win32 D3D - Fullscreen/Crisp without borders possible?

Hi, What is your display resolution? There's no miracle, if you want correct aspect ratio, some borders have to be created, on top & bottom, or on the sides if your display is wide. And if you want crisp display, the pixel multiplier needs to be an integer. Hence the borders. You may try a DD bu...

Downloaded the game at atarimania. It doesn't crash, it leaves properly calling PTerm() and all :) Not sure yet but this dongle looks more annoying than the others, it seems to constantly trigger interrupts under some conditions. Emulating this is heavier than changing some port bit. EDIT: heavier d...

Re: Graphical glitches in 3.9.3 linked to "Wake up" state

It is one of the confusing options in Steem SSE, and that's why it is now hidden unless option 'Advanced Settings' is checked. 'Ignore' would disable more analysis in v3.9.2. Normally, the demo "Closure" works whatever the option in v3.9.3 (still need ADAT, not my fault  ) but in ...

Re: Graphical glitches in 3.9.3 linked to "Wake up" state

No, 'ignore' defaults to the wakestates I said for frequency and compatibility reasons, but some "shifter tricks" are then not tested. Like "destabilisation" (Bee demos, etc.). In the case of OVRII, it allows you to have the demo without glitch. It makes sense because the test fo...
