Re: Can pasti images be made on a PC with STeem?

Back in the good old days (Dos 6.22?) you could actually format DOS 820k disks from the command line. iirc all you needed to do was something like:

format a: /u /t:80 /n:10

no need to use special programs. I'm pretty sure in XP this fails though.

Re: Is it me or is there a lot of silly prices on eBay right now

Yes, I've noticed it too. There's people on there selling stuff which is practically worthless, yet dressing it up as being rare and one of a kind. There's a copy of Carrier Command on there at the moment as a BIN, which has been there for a couple of months now. It just *might* be of interest to m...

Man I wish that I didn't live in Australia. With the dollar falling down so low now, 320 euros will buy you a three bedroom house down here :(

Guess I have to save up for a PhantomS first - 35euros - that's only the price of an Aussie car :)

Re: Old email updates?

You're probably right Christos - but there's no way for me to check that. I've had about 3 or 4 similar ones in the last week with the same symptoms.

Just feel like that old thing with the knock at the door and then you get there and some knackerhead has run off down the road ...

Re: STFM internal IDE ?

Chris - I found some stuff on the 16mhz speedup card which has some gals etc for cache and the like if you want it. Also, my memory is hazy, but wouldn't you need to extend/replace the mmu to address the 14mb? I remember something like an extra ram card which involved the replacement of the mmu and ...

i think its the same mpu just runs upto 16mhz it may have slight improvements in the dia etc i assume you have a 40pin dil 16mhz 68000???? usualy an ST68000 then the machine should run exactly as it is just process a little faster {twice as fast} so will appear smoother the cicuit is just a clock d...

Re: Brainstorm 68000 CPU Accelerator on ST(E)?

In theory if all it did was replace the cpu with a faster clocked one and the cache was directly interfaced to the acutal cpu, and it had it's own clock generator, not trying to pick it up from the system ... it could work. A lot of the Amiga accelerators (the 16mhz 68000s) did this and were basical...

Re: Modifying a touchpad...maybe ppera helps?

Ratboy - you don't need to remove one from a keyboard - as Aly posted there are models that are touchpad only. There are also wireless versions - no need to reinvent the wheel - http://www.adesso.com/products.asp The wireless ones usually have a usb or ps/2 dongle that you plug into your machine - t...

We started with touchpad, now some people talks about trackpads, glidepads. Can someone confirm that they don't need specific drivers with PCs ? Ppera - confirmed. For the touchpad/glidepad/trackpad (all the same thing, just different proprietory names I guess). Out ouf the box they work as a two b...

Alright kids. Behave. Ratboy - I have had my hands on such a beastie. It's a PS/2 keyboard, with an extention on the right hand side with a glidepad, two button mouse. It uses two connectors, one for keyboard and one for mouse/glidepad. I have also seen one with the glidepad in the middle near the a...

excuse my scratchy memory, especially seeing I've never had a MegaSTe, but isn't there a pad of jumpers similar to the STe that sets 1.44 floppy compatability, etc? Is there one there for 50/60mhz operation!? If the machine is a german one it -should- be PAL out of the box ...
