Re: CosmosEX 3.0

They regularly put up updates at http://atari.sk/cosmosex-3-0/ Last update was february 2nd, and then they were still waiting for TME to deliver the ICs needed. (They originally thought they would be delivered around new year, with cosmosex to start shipping by the end of january) But yes, would be...

Re: XF551 360K format

1. Could be dirty. Cleaning is a good start.
2. Could be using single sided disks and the XF551 may be picky.
3. Could be the side 2 head is bad.

Re: uip-tool

I tried to load it on my 1040STf where only half the memory is working. It immediately drops back to the desktop. I would take that with a grain of salt cause it could be my memory issue causing it.

Good news about a new version UIP. I love it, but it does need a little love to make things better.

Thank you!

Re: Falcon HDDriver problems

You can try this

go into "Configuring devices, drives and LUNs" and check the box that say "Preserve Existing Drives". Hit ok and then use Auto Configure.

Re: Back from the dead

If you get to the desktop, absolutely continue. I have never been a fan of retro-brite because I have heard stories of it not turning out even. With all of the stress the disks have gone through over the years, they may be bad. If you plan to test them all, be prepared to clean your floppy drive oft...

Yes, I am sure that it is since I waited for the first ones to be made. My first post was because the OP did not specify which version the cable was for. I did not want the wrong path to be taken if it was the original.

Re: Falcon - SCSI external cable?

From Jookie's Site "If your device has both 50-pin SCSI connector and 20-pin ACSI connector, then your device is capable of running on both buses – ACSI and SCSI. But due to small space on PCB, small pin count on Xilinx chip and small amount of logic in that Xilinx chip, the device can’t run in...

Re: Falcon - SCSI external cable?

There are 2 versions of the original CosmosEx, one for SCSI and one for ACSI. As far as I know, an ASCI version cannot be used with the Falcon. You need a SCSI specific one for that. There is currently a new run of 100 units redesigned and waiting to be shipped that can handle either. They should be...

Re: Recommended hardware tweaks/mods for an Atari STe

The STe did not come with an IDE interface, it came with ASCI, an Atari version of SCSI. Ultrasatan is the easiest and fastest away to get mass storage for yout STe. It connects to the ACSI port directly and has 2 SD card slots for storage. https://www.lotharek.pl/ If you want to run Disk Images, yo...

Re: Lightning VME is here

I have done this for my Mega STe: Thanks for sharing, that looks fantastic. Yeah I've created an .STL and 3D-printed a plate specifically for the included USB port extender (replace its metal plate). https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3105501 This looks promising. Thanks for the ideas, guys. I am su...

Re: Lightning VME is here

Is anyone exposing the ports to the outside of the machine? I have a Mega STe that can use this, but I am concerned of where the ports would reach the outside of the computer and how it would look. Any Pics out there?

Re: Adding a Hard Drive to your Megafile 44 explained

I know that the tech is getting old, there is just something about using equipment "made in the day" that was meant to be used on these machines. I guess that makes me more of a hardware guy than a software guy. <shrugs> Don't get me wrong, my Falcon does have a 32 gig PATA SSD. I also own...

Adding a Hard Drive to your Megafile 44 explained

I am new to the forum and thought I would share my experience with adding a hard drive to a Megafile 44 (MF44) I scoured the forums and found vague instructions, incomplete instructions and instructions that were downright wrong. This setup even works with a Megafile 30 (MF30) as the first HD in the...
