Re: MINT and Falcon

MiNT (known as FreeMiNT nowadays) is an operating system originally from Atari and later released as free software and still developed by volunteers. One could describe it as a multitasking TOS with some (good) Unix compability. MiNT and MagiC are mostly compatible in their TOS-like behaviour, and d...

Re: OS stack

How did you test it? By running GEMDict (see signature) which uses offscreen bitmaps for it's text display. If I disable NVDI during boot the display is garbled. Exactly like it is with ARAnyM+fVDI. I'm pretty sure Didier hasn't done anything with this. This is potentially great news. What function...

Re: OS stack

I tested it by attempting to open and use offscreen bitmaps in my own code on multiple VDIs, but the best outcome would be that I'm wrong (i.e. my test code was wrong) and you're right. Perhaps the situation has changed (i.e. Didier has put offscreen bitmap support in FireTOS after I made my tests)...

Re: OS stack

On a system where fVDI is responsible for screen drivers, and you run NVDI on top to extend the VDI, NVDI is by definition "running", but you won't get offscreen bitmaps. Shoggoth, I'm telling that on my FIreBee, with NVDI I have offscreen bitmaps, without it I don't. And I can't deactiva...

Simple, when NVDI is running offscreen bitmpas work, when it doesn’t they don't. Go figure.

Re: OS stack

NVDI is used only for the printing side This doesn't seem correct to me. Sure, the GDOS portion of NVDI is active, but VDI functions too. For example, offscreen bitmaps are not supported by fVDI. Programs making use of them don't work properly if NVDI isn't running. It seems to me that with NVDI ru...

Your game is working quite well on my FireBee. I did notice though that the windows do not respond to the WM_BOTTOMED message. It's so simple to implement you should think about adding this.

Re: v_pieslice and fill bleed

I don't know if this makes sense, but my theory is that, under MINT, as you move a window it causes redraw messages to be sent to the application to redraw the underlying window. This includes your own application - so redraw messages interleave with the move messages. The redraw of the underlying ...

No, no Firebee native version of Papyrus X, it's pure 68K. But it works with Mint in Firetos. You should be able to buy it there : http://www.1632systems.co.uk/Templates/PapyrusX.htm I bought mine there 2 years ago. The applications has several bugs and may crash, but it has nothing to do with the ...

I was able to fix the missing file issue by renaming SPEECH1.CLF to SPEECH1.CLU in BS1's speech directory (taking a hint from Scummvm's logging). Now each time a voice is supposed to be active, ScummVM outputs "Sound::uncompressSpeech(): DATA tag not found in wave header!". Well, that's pr...

RE broken sword, is the intro mpeg2 encoding? I do not recall. Was gameplay and sound fluid? I know that title played pretty rough on the ct60 According to VLC, it's Smacker Video (SMK2). Actually the sprite animation is pretty good, so the gameplay is fine on the Firebee; but as soon as the screen...

Thanks for keeping up with this, Keith. I installed the Coldfire version and ran Broken Sword I and everything seems to be working fine except that it is incredibly slow (like 1 fps). I wasn't expecting this. Edit: actually, it's the cinematic intro that is slow as hell. The game itself seems to be ...

since memory allocation is in the XBIOS, it's not tied to the current process. That means freeing allocated memory is mandatory. Thanks for the intel. It's always "vmfree()", at least if the program not does crash before it. The toshyp should need some update, Didier's documentation in to...

Use USERDEF as call back, you can easily find the XY location where to draw the box. You don't even need this (and I don't think you can call the AES wit...
