Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

As I said, it's not limited to the Unicorn at all. It's general Atari functionality that could have been found reading any Atari FAQ for hard disks. Yes, I realise that. But again, this would be excellent information to include in an Unicorn FAQ even if it's not directly related to the device. Yes,...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

The TOS/Windows thing always catches people out, and this isn't strictly related to the Unicorn. This happens with any media formatted for TOS, whether that's IDE or SCSI too. Since the floppy disks formatted on a ST works fine on a PC, I assumed it would be possible to get it working with a "...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

CBHDCONF doesn't make the partitions TOS & Windows compatible, just TOS. HDDRUTIL can make them TOS & Windows compatible though. :? Wasn't aware of that ... because the entire point of me getting an Unicorn is to be able to transfer my old floppies to PC. If there's ANY other reasons that m...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Can you run SYSINFO from floppy and send me the photo of what it displays without any drivers loaded. I want to check if you have TOS 1.62 or TOS 1.06. Done, I have 1.62 ... actually expected 1.06. sysinfo.jpg Oh, what do you mean by "I bring it to the desktop and format it (FAT)" ??? The...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Ok... I tested a card reader with an old CF card that I had used on an Amga years ago. Now I could actually partition the card... so I reset the computer, booted with CBHD disk and added a C: drive.. It works, amazing! Then I copied sysinfo to it, that worked, but when I tried to run it from C I got...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Thanks for the video! I am doing pretty much what you are doing, differences are: 1. I don't have a USB hub, I just connect my USB stick directly to the Unicorn. I could try a card reader I suppose, if that is at all possible? 2. My memory stick comes up as SCSI ID 0 and not 1 in CBHDCONF. Its also ...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

One thing to try, is leave the USB stick disconnected. Boot up with all the drivers loaded, and then load HDDRUTIL. If that loads up, then plug the USB stick in, and in the menu of HDDRUTIL you can "Detect Devices" to see if that finds anything or crashes ? I was considering doing somethi...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

O.k. might be some changes with HDDRUTIL 10.x as I've not yet tried that with the Unicorn. Only 9.x. I'll see if I can reproduce anything with CBHDCONF though. What size USB stick are you using ? I am using a USB3 16GB formatted to FAT32. I have tried an older 1GB FAT one as well, but that one just...

Just tried booting without any AUTO started programs; HDDRUTIL starts fine now and gives an error saying that there is no SCSI driver etc etc

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Oh, and just because it gets detected at boot, doesn't mean it finds any partitions. That's just the USB scan to find out what USB devices are plugged in. I know but I just want to add as much information as possible... and just to be clear, when I say the USB memory stick isn't detected at boot; w...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

ICD isn't SCSIDRV compatible so ignore that one. I was starting to suspect something like that... would have been good to know a bit earlier. Have farted around with that software a fair bit now :) HDDRUTIL.APP crashes at what point ? Is there a HDDRUTIL.INF file around, if so delete it, and try st...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

You don't need to load HDDRIVER, CBHD or ICDBOOT. Just run either, HDDRUTIL.APP or CBHDCONF.APP. I am not, but I have tried both with and without the driver of the software package, still doesn't work. Just discovered that I don't need to reformat my memory stick for it to be detected, after a fail...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

It's getting closer, but still no cigar. CBHD now detects the memory stick. But when trying to partition I get an unspecific error saying that something went wrong. After that I have to reformat(FAT32) the memory stick for it to be able to be detected at boot. I have tried other memory sticks as wel...

Sorry, what I meant to write was 1.06, which I am pretty sure I have installed in my STE. I was just afraid that JARXXX wouldn't work if it was a TOS older than 1.62.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Thanks for looking into this! Ok, there's the cookie jar being mentioned again :) , is that like the SCSI IDs? Excellent, will give this a try! Might take a few days, need to borrow my mums old PC to transfer the JAR files. Will get back to you. Do I only need to copy the JAR20.PRG file or do I need...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Thanks for testing! Same as my set-up, but I do have the other CBHD files on the disk as well, but I assume that wont matter? When I start CBHDCONF it says that the SCSI driver is missing and wants me to load SCSIDRV. If I ignore that and go to partition a window briefly pops up where is says search...

I will try the demo, but that wont happen for a while, since I don't have access to a PC with a floppy drive here. *
I have already tried CBHDCONF and it says it can't find any SCSI driver .... and wants me to load SCSIDRV

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

I have now tried ICD Pro and CBHD. CBHD just complains about a "missing cookie jar" at boot and refuses to start the driver. ICD Pro seems to be working better, but no luck detecting the memory stick. I have the following in my AUTO folder: 1: icdboot.prg 2: usb.prg 3: storage.prg 4: unico...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

AHDI won't work as it doesn't support the SCSIDRV standard. Ok, scratch that then... CBHD502.TOS needs running on your Atari to unpack lots of files. It's also in German. That is doable, I can copy it to disk on my moms old PC. My German isn't great though ... but I do understand it somewhat. Isn't...

Thanks for your reply Alanh! I found free CBHD, its just a cbhd502.tos file... zero documentation :? Going to give it a try this the weekend. I also found AHDI v6.061 will give it a try also. I don't have a Linux installation, I think I have a Linux boot CD, that I have never used. Have zero experie...

What?! 512KB 8O? I thought it was 512MB? How am I supposed to get a decently sized partition? :)
