Re: WIFI for all ataris over serial!

I built one of these today. Worked perfectly on the first attempt thanks to Czietz's firmware. Managed to cram it all into a 5x3 cm casing by desoldering the connectors on the 5 V adaptor board and solder-mounting all pieces with some added hot glue. Haven't tried it on my ST yet, but it worked fine...

Depends on the socket. I can literally lift my A600 by the socket of its Furia 020 accelerator card.

Re: EPROM programmer for the Atari ST?

I have an old one from REX Datentechnik. Connects to the cartridge port. But I don't use it since I've got an ALL-07, the prince of EPROM programmers.

Re: help to replace ribbon cable and other faults

This is how I would do it: 1. Remove as much of the original connector as possible, i.e. remove top of connector and cable, cut up the remaining plastic with a plier into small pieces. 2. Desolder. You can speed up desoldering by administering a lot of solder on the bottom of the PCB and heat it usi...

How do you make a TOS "ansprechbar"?

Has floppy support been reintroduced in OSX Sierra? It was removed in OSX El Capitan.

Problems with high-resolution mice on STs?

I have a habit of converting optical mice for Amiga use. In case the mouse uses a suitably old controller (many PS/2 era optical mice), I just tap the quadrature signals directly from the mouse. If it uses an unsuitable controller, I use a PIC with PS2M firmware to make a small adapter. On the Amiga...

Re: lown STE power supply, how bad is it?

Luckily, through hole mounted capacitors seldom leak onto the PCB like surface mounted ones do — they pop up on top where there are slits in the packaging instead. But even if they don't pop or leak, they dry out, no longer serving as capacitors. Comparing them to semiconductors like czietz does is ...

Re: REplacement power supplies for 400... impossible to source?

The NES PSU only has an ampere or so of current, and would be very overloaded if the Atari 400 in fact requires 3 A.

Bypass memory test and timeouts on TOS 2.06

I've burned a set of TOS 2.06 EPROMs for my STe and I like it that way. But what I don't like is the time it takes to boot.
Is there some way to patch the ROM to bypass the timeouts on cold boot?

Re: Connecting Amiga to Atari SC1224 Monitor ?

It's quite possible. You need a D-sub 23 female connector for the Amiga and a DIN-13 female connector to connect the monitor cable. Connect R, G, B, Hsync, Vsync and ground, and optionally feed audio from the Amiga's RCA connectors.

Re: Were Atari just out of their league in the end?

Regarding the original question, I share the impression given by the pure looks of the motherboard. The LC series are a marvel of compactness, and one could only wish that Atari and Commodore had gone the same route when making the A1200 and Falcon. I own an LC475 with a 25 MHz 68LC040 and it isn't ...

That's not the one I own, so your mileage may vary, but mine seems to swallow any SuperVGA resolution my Amiga graphics card outputs.

Re: Help with Atari STf - RGB - Cannot get video/sync

Thanks so much, will give it a thorough read. Only problem I see is the cables I have the connectors cannot be dissasembled, so may have to cut it (although I did just buy connectors to make my own). Every Scart connector I've ever seen can be disassembled; unscrew the end where the cable enters an...

I've now replaced U302 and U307, to no avail.

The floppy access LED seems to flash very quickly when the drive is not in use, what could that signify?

U300 is not socketed.

Atari STe won't load from floppy, ACSI

I have two Atari STe computers, one of which can't load from floppy or from a Megafile hard drive. I have changed the floppy drive, and with no change in behaviour. I have also swapped the 1772 FDC and the YM2149 with my working machine, to no avail. On boot-up, it does access the floppy, but only b...
