Re: Difference between the scsihosts link96 and link97?

ProDisk 1000 also formatted, ID zero, otherwise I couldn't "get in", extensively tested the HD took 1.5 hours, didn't terminate anything. Tried to but all of a sudden floppydrive failed. Is the LINK96/97 itself terminated as being always the last (ID 07) scsi device in the chain? And is it...

Re: Difference between the scsihosts link96 and link97?

Hello everybody, the Link96 is working. I connected it straight from te STE to the "ProDrive 40" I collected today from seller and which indeed is a SyQuest SQ555. Put a, with HDPlus formatted 44MB cartridge into the drive and there it was, recognized immediately. Partitions, disk info, ev...

Re: Difference between the scsihosts link96 and link97?

Hello Frank and others, the Link96 is in da house. D-Sub housing glued together! Never mind. Got the lid of the D-sub housing on the chipside off in one piece. PCB lay-out is completely different from the Link97. Tomorrow I will try to get an Apple scsi HDD (1000MB) and a scsi "Prodisk 40MB&quo...

Difference between the scsihosts link96 and link97?

By http://www.wbsystemtechnik.de/atari/at_zube.htm Is it that Link96 has termpower (how?) and Link97 not? My Link97 is tp'ed through the joystickport. It requires a diode and little soldering, quite simple to do if you know how to. Extra termpower is only needed with devices as Iomega ZIP100s(csi). ...

Re: Megafile 44 + extra HD

Well, I bought that Seagate more than a year ago and it now sits in another Megafile 44 that I bought just a month ago (very hard to get nowadays). Jumper setting is a bit different from the IBM but it is working allright. It's just fun to switch the 44MB cartridges between 2 Atari's to exchange dat...

Re: RIP Tim Conrardy

Today 7 years ago. If he had been subscribed to this site and a regular poster he would be qualified at least as an Atari Super Hero. Fortunately his fenomenal site 'Tim's Atari MIDI World' is still online. http://tamw.atari-users.net/ But for how long? Recently I thought it was rapidly deterioratin...

Re: Is Tim Conrardy's site finally down?

The archived site works quite well now. Some links are dead forever I guess. Still it would be great if this site's existence is secured for the future and not only for historical reasons. It contains massive info about atari, midi and other retro stuff like fm-synths, their editors etc. and could e...

Re: Is Tim Conrardy's site finally down?

A lot of dead links. Some work , sometimes some work, others are gone. But that is normal I guess. Seen it many times. I very much agree, the site itself should stay if possible and updated every now and then. I don't care if Facebook disappeares but Atari sites like this should stay and especially ...

Re: MMC cards - can they work in UltraSatan?

Regarding transfer of ST files from PC to Atari, how exactly do you go about that? I understand the HDDRIVER drivers are able to read /write DOS formatted cards as easily as ST formatted ones so presumably it's just a matter of copying the relevant files from a PC onto a card and putting the card i...

Re: Firebee Printer Port ...

So Firebee is Falcon and Falcon works with Steinberg SMP II which connects to the printerport. I was already considering a Mist plus MIDI, but the max number of midichannels is still limited to 16. Then i thought: "Okay, Firebee is perhaps an option. More expensive but with a parallel port"...

Re: MMC cards - can they work in UltraSatan?

If MMC cards really do work then that will be great as they must be almost useless to most people (therefore very cheap to buy) by now. At first I thought the same. I tried to find these small non HC SD cards everywhere but they are almost nowhere to be found. Still, there must be millions floating...

Re: CuBase hardware, Steem, and the Parallel Port

Isn't the C-Lab Export connected to the Atari modem port? The Steinberg MIDI 3 is not for Atari, so no driver I think. SMP 24 and SMP 2 are for the parallel port. They are very similar on Atari and a PC: http://info-coach.fr/atari/hardware/interfaces.php I've got both SMP 24 and SMP 2 (SMP II), but ...

Re: [Cubase user] Is CosmoEx for me?

Hi Somaboy, I have a Midex+ and a Steinberg SMP24 hooked upon the MSTE, respectively cartridge and parallel port. Together with Cubase Score 2.06 (originally for Falcon but downgraded without audiorecording for Mega/ST/E) with dongle everything works smoothly, no probs. Ultrasatandisk behaves just l...

Re: [Cubase user] Is CosmoEx for me?

Hello, same set-up here. Only the noise of the harddisk, an IBM Ultrastar 2.1GB which replaced the original 52MB Quantum is drowned by the noise of the MSTE's fan. I dont own a Cosmosex (yet..perhaps) but the external cased Ultrasatandisk I've got works fine. I wouldn't use an internal one because o...

Perhaps this subject about multiple midi ports (visualized on a big screen though) is becoming off topic and requires a new thread. But for the time being:

Re: Extended monitor option

I can assign the emulated Atari midi port of Steem to any of the midi equipment attached to the PC on which Steem is running. However, limited to 16 midi channels. To each channel out of 4 with the Roland usb MPU64, to the SB Live midiport (from the joystickport of the Soundblaster audio card), to t...
