Re: Games that support Jaguar controllers?

Was the PowerPad released before the Jaguar came out though? I know that I got mine when Atari got rid of their inventory in the mid-90's. AtariMania lists Mazewar as the only PowerPad/Jagpad title released before the Jaguar, the Atari UK developed Falcon titles were released years after the Jaguar ...

I only use the grey Jagpad on my Falcon. Many people also own Jagpads with rotary controller. Anything else would require an adapter.

Re: Solution for higher resolutions on STE?

I always kind of wondered why no one added even the TT resolutions to an STe. Actually what would also be nice (at least for us TT030/Mega STe owners) if there were an outright replacement for the VME bus adapter, something that could make them use more standard things, of course then drivers have ...

I wrote about your engine in ST-Computer 02/16. A very exciting project - I wish I could send you (and a couple of other developers) back to the 80's  There were just so many games that could've been better...

Anyway, if there are any game projects, I'll be happy to cover them in my magazine.

For what it's worth, you may use the images from AtariUpToDate as well. Not that many game screenshots compared to AM, but still some pics (3200).

My site (which has 9310 apps listed) doesn't have an API either, although it's not a big problem to create one.

Re: Number of ataris sold over the years?

Still, 13000-14000 Falcons sold with an additional 4164 units in stock is the last official number. Everything else are just estimates until someone from Atari (or Curt's next Atari book) sheds some light on sales figures. Bob Gleadow may not have known the exact number at the time of the interview,...

According to Alwin Stumpf, President Worldwide Sales Atari, the number of TTs was around 10000 units in September 1991, with 600-1000 units sold each month:

Re: Help Compiling TOS 2.06/2.08/3.06 in any language

Usually when asking for a handout it is a good idea to frame it as a win. In this case the win is goodwill, good PR and community support for any future hardware(?) development to support "retro" gaming. Very, very iffy I admit. The company is almost "virtual". 10 employees... p...

Re: Help Compiling TOS 2.06/2.08/3.06 in any language

Well, nobody asked Atari (or whoever bought the Atari rights) to open source TOS at the appropriate time. I doubt you'd get any reaction from Infogrames now. So... the parts owned by Digital Research were legally open sourced, but whatever Atari added not. That's why the EmuTOS team took the DR sour...

Re: Dreaming of a Next Gen Atari - one can Dream!

For C, there was something similar called ACSpro. Both were of course inspired by the NeXT's Interface Builder. I did not know this. I thought ACSPro is just a library for GEM. Will take a look at this. I really hate having to write a program and 80% of the time is just getting the GUI done. ACSpro...

Re: Dreaming of a Next Gen Atari - one can Dream!

And yet another reason is the poor development software offered by Atari. Just a simple C compiler with OS bindings and (sort of) ANSI standard libs. Other platforms had "visual" development systems quite early, while Atari never offered anything like that. Yes, this is badly needed. Just...

By thinking GEM has something to do with "clean" you miss the point. We are in the Atari world. And this world was very different to Apples world. Where Apple made very strict rules for programmers, Atari made nothing. I personally think that the imagination of the graphic environment has...

Re: Dreaming of a Next Gen Atari - one can Dream!

How apple succeded to transform Macs from 68k to PPC and later to x86? That succeeded because Apple fanboys don't care about actual hardware, or even software, as long as a crunched apple is drawn on the machine. On the other hand, Atari users love their old hardware and old binaries. This is why h...

Tramiel's Atari didn't have anything to do with the NES deal which was proposed during the Warner years and the Amiga was not a finished machine. The ST was already in development by the time he heard of the deal between Atari and the Amiga developers. I don't think the bad soundchip hurt the ST and...

Mine was a 520STM with a SF354 in 1988, I sold my C64 to afford the Atari. There were no great bundles in Germany, so all I got was a disk with ST-Basic (that was shortly before Atari Germany switched to Omikron Basic).
