Marpet Xtra Ram Deluxe and 520ST

I have an old 520ST C070243 revB and am putting a Marpet Xtra-Ram Deluxe in it. I can't find a schematic for the mainboard and need to disable the bank of built-in ram. On a STFM, it is done by lifting R60 and R61 on the MMU side (CAS0L and CAS0H) and feeding +5V to the chips through the reistor. Ca...

Re: Graphics card for ST/STE?

Actually if using a 15Khz compatible LCD monitor, a simple VGA switch could be used with just one monitor.

Tried it with T26 accelerator on STE. As I expected it is not working.

Re: Daimakaimura (Ghouls 'n Ghosts) for the Atari STE

Ok, I turned off everything and just booted with HDDriver and now it is running. But the castle scene at the beginning is cut in half. But the forest scene is good. The game demo mode is working with some graphical errors, but what is there is truly amazing! Can't believe it's running on a STE! 4mb ...

Re: Converting 4 chars to a unsigned long?

As to why this didn't work: ph_tlen = (read_buf[0] << 24) | (read_buf[1] << 16) | (read_buf[2] << 8) | read_buf[3]; This is one of the trickier parts of C you need to get used to. What you got fooled by is called integral promotion . In C, all arithmetic operations on types smaller than int are enf...

Re: Converting 4 chars to a unsigned long?

No need to do that as complex as that. What about: unsigned long ph_tlen; Fread( file_handle, sizeof(ph_tlen), &ph_tlen ); Wow, thanks. :cheers: I had no idea that would work. I love C, there are so many ways to do the same thing. Of course I'm trying to find the most efficient. Much appreciated!

Re: Converting 4 chars to a unsigned long?

Eh, figured it out after all. :lol: Had to change: ph_tlen = (read_buf[0] << 24) | (read_buf[1] << 16) | (read_buf[2] << 8) | read_buf[3]; To: ph_tlen = ((unsigned long) read_buf[0] << 24) | ((unsigned long ) read_buf[1] << 16) | ((unsigned long ) read_buf[2] << 8) | ((unsigned long) read_buf[3]; I ...

Converting 4 chars to a unsigned long?

I am trying to read the program header and get the length for the code section. I can open the file and read the 4 bytes in ok, but when I try to calculate ph_tlen I get a wild number. Can someone point out my error? unsigned long ph_tlen; unsigned char read_buf[4]; Fread( file_handle, 4, read_buf )...

Re: Question about using File Selector

Last thing is to set the new drive spec if valid. Set up a variable for the bit mask of available drives: long drives; Get the bit mask of available drives: drives = Dsetdrv(Dgetdrv()); Check after file selector returns if drive specification is valid: if(((drives) >> (path[0] - 65)) & 1) Dsetdr...

Re: Question about using File Selector

Went with jfl's code so I could check the return value of strrchar in case the directory path has no '\' in it and avoid a bus error. s = strrchr( path, '\\' ); if( s != NULL ) { *s = '\0'; if( strchr(path, '\\') == NULL ) { path[2] = '\\'; path[3] = '\0'; Dsetpath( &path[2] ); strcat( path, nam...

Re: Question about using File Selector

It's inefficient to use strcpy here, since all that you want to do is... *(strrchr(path,'\\')) = 0; Yes, thank you that works well. But not for the case of root drive, since Dsetpath won't work then. So I had to add a check with strchr in to the code: *(strrchr(path,'\\')) = 0; if( strchr(path, '\\...

Think I got it...this seems to work:

Code: Select all

                              s = strrchr( path, '\\' );
                              strcpy( s, "\0");

Question about using File Selector

I'm trying to get the return path from the file selector and add the filename to it so I can open the file. I set up the path before calling the file selector, but when I return the path still has the wilcards at the end which I need to strip to replace with the filename. Can someone give me an exam...
