That'll give you a rough idea. As long as you're methodical and do your homework, then you'll spot the wiring mistake in it.

It's pretty much the same across all of the issues, but you need to read up to UNDERSTAND what you're doing, and why. :)

Re: extending the floppy cable - why doesn't it work ?

Frankly you'd be far better off desoldering the header from the motherboard and installing pins. Then you can do what you want. ;-)

Those permanent soldered headers are a bit rubbish anyway. :D

Not right now. :( I've moved to London. Looking for a new job. :(

The site going down couldn't have been at a worse time. I was also targetted (and still am) with LOADS of spam. About 1000-messages per day.

WOW!!! Thanks for the welcome!! :-) And WOW!! I certainly do have my work cut out for me don't I!! That big one we'll come to a deal on that, as that'd just work out as some daft amount. :P It's day of the PeSTs today. A total of 12 mice, and 6 cables. Building PeSTs, JeSTs, EPROMs, VGA SCART leads THIS WEEK!!

Hi All!! :D Many apologies for literally disappearing. I've been in London quite a bit lately, and it's really addictive. Regarding the stairs incident, ...it's still not properly sorted, which is annoying me as I want to get back to the gym safely etc. etc. Right. Time is limited here, as I'm in th...

Re: Wanted: 44 pin 2 drive ribbon cable, short length

I think I know what you mean. They're 2.5" drives aren't they, ..meaning that they'll be those 0.635 cables. Just getting an idea of precisely what's required. Farnell or RS would be good places to find the IDC connectors. Then there's buying the cable, which is unlikely to be sold in quantitie...

I'm certainly noticing orders/interest picking up. There's actually a backlog at the moment.

Windows Virus Alert on Linux

Now, to say that I was surprised would be somewhat of an understatement. It's a bit like when I was in Comet the other week, and the Sales guy was trying to push some software on me for a Linux netbook. "Yes, Norton AV now works on Linux." Impressive wouldn't you say. Now you know the answ...

Re: Yikes! How on earth do I clean a filthy motherboard?

Ditto on washing in water.

It's okkkkkk, provided that you remove any components from the board which would be destroyed by liquid. Speakers, that kind of thing.

Also, it then needs to be left in an airing cupboard for 48-hours. You CANNOT speed up the drying process with a hair dryer!!

Re: Advice on Atari TOS ROMS needed

No, they're not original Atari per se. They may be aftermarket, since some companies offered them in these styles. The 100% genuine Atari ones have dot matrix printed labels, which also display the checksums. It's not a huge problem your user putting them up for sale, providing that they're not aski...

Re: power computing external floppy drive info needed..

Take the thing apart and trace back. Easiest way.

The power is either going to be rectified externally or internally. Likely there will be just a 7805 inside the thing and a couple of caps.
