Re: Backward III and NVDI

I assume these are intended for different programs, NVDI for GEM programs, and Backward for older games. If they don't interfere with each other, one can have both NVDI & Backward enabled in AUTO folder and doesn't need to reboot to run another type of a program. This assumes that game exits cle...

Works fine from floppy image too (even with EmuTOS):

Code: Select all

wget http://files.dhs.nu/party/sillyventure2013/STrange_roboTS_final.zip
zip2st STrange_roboTS_final.zip
hatari -s 4 --machine ste --tos etos512k.img STrange_roboTS_final.st

I have no idea, but there's been a lot change between different NVDI version, so you'll probably need to state which NVDI version you're interested about.

Re: Not able to write to blank disks - issue

Hmm, I thought I tried that, but I can try again. The thing is, that both games format their own savegame discs, but I don't remember feeding them an empty Pasti image, if there is such a thing. Will investigate, thanks for the lead. Did you get this working? STX file track writes have been support...

Works fine on Linux, and there hasn't been any changes in this part of code for many years. In which way it's broken on Windows? (None of the Hatari developers has Windows, so all testing & debugging for Windows specific issues needs to be done by users, sometimes fixes too. AFAIK even Hatari Wi...

I liked the demo a lot, it was nicely designed and had a positive feel about it! Greetings part being somewhat before end of the demo also fit to the flow of the demo nicely.

I liked the screen with stars and white waves most.

Btw. Somehow the length of all screens was just right. Whenever I started thinking of potentially fast-forwarding things in Hatari, that screen bows out and next one comes in... Maybe the demo was powered by telepathy!

Re: Doom/Doom II (PrBoom-Plus) on Framebuffer/ARM

Wow, speed is impressive! I didn't expect so high performance. Doom worked fine on a mere Acorn Risc PC with 200 MHz StrongARM, so a fast Cortex-A9 should really have no problem at all. There's a Doom port / rendering engine rewrite that works pretty OK even on Atari Falcon i.e. 16Mhz 68030 (with m...

In Hatari v2.2, there's experimental support for the SCC chip of the Mega-STE, TT and Falcon (only channel B for now, and output only)

Thanks, it works fine now. It got stuck once in maze generation (on 3rd play after boot), but I couldn't reproduce that (and unfortunately I didn't save hatari profiler etc output before trying to reproduce).

Re: SDL version and Hatari

HW you have (Sandybridge), dual-channel memory, small resolution (1280 x 1024), Mesa with GL 3.3 / GLES 3.0 support, and non-compositing desktop (Openbox) shouldn't give any performance problems for Hatari with SDL 2. Unless your cooling isn't working and your machine gets severely temperature limit...

Re: Hatari 1.8, Windows, how to change drive letter in file selector

As first step Hatari checks that the binary is an Atari program. If it is, Hatari will start the program using the program's directory as C: root, i.e. it works only if program works with its own dir being the hard disk root (there isn't e.g. a config file telling program to load its files from some...

Re: Hatari 1.8, Windows, how to change drive letter in file selector

At least on Linux, it's possible to register Hatari as handler for Atari programs, not just disk images. Hatari even includes a script for that: https://git.tuxfamily.org/hatari/hatari.git/plain/tools/hatari-tos-register.sh Does Windows have any kind of facility to register handlers for binary files...

Re: PLATOTERM for Atari ST - A PLATO terminal for IRATA.ONLINE - 0.5 Beta

FYI: one way to test different resolutions, and some compatibility with non-standard graphics is using Hatari's VDI mode, and specifying some uncommon resolution, for example: "--vdi-planes 4 --vdi-width 800 --vdi-height 640". Another one is using Hatari Falcon emulation with native Videl ...

If there's a demo sequence, it possible to use Hatari debugger & profiler to automatically identify slowest frame in the demo and automatically provide profile for it. It's quite convoluted to set up, but it was very handy with Falcon Bad Mood (especially as it could do that both for CPU and DSP...

Re: Hatari 1.8, Windows, how to change drive letter in file selector

Why not just register Hatari as handler for *.st files, or *.ST.gz files (latter to use less space and differentiate them from potential other files that might use *.st extension)? Then Hatari would be automatically started when you click on a *.st(.gz) file on your desktop.
