Re: Serial constantly freezes

* You don't need 2 instances of Hatari. All I'm trying to do is dial out using a terminal program. But the freezing often occurs before I even get that far. I don't have Mac, Lantronix, USB-serial, or other serial port in my (Linux) PC. Best would be if you can provide a backtrace of where exactly ...

Re: Change cursor speed in Hatari?

Hatari doesn't have any support for cursor control, and your issue might be a bug with SDL and/or your laptop driver. I remember there being some thread here about that.

Re: Atari TT030 and system V

Also it seems that Hatari developers have added SCSI HDD and MMU support, so this may be a reality soon. Unfortunately it crashes shortly after, but this should be debugable and fixable. Second MFP and some SCC improvements are still needed, and there are few missing items from SCSI emulation. TT S...

Re: Serial constantly freezes

I don't think RS232 code has had any real functionality change in over a decade. In 2012 I just added possibility to configure input and output separately and in 2014 Thomas made its threading compatible with SDL v2. There have been fixes to MFP implementation though. Questions: * Which Hatari versi...

Re: Issues with Bigdos and Ide interface

TOS v4 supports up to 1GB partitions, TOS >=1.06 up to 512MB partitions, and earlier TOS versions up to 256MB partitions. I think EmuTOS supports larger partitions.

Did you make sure that PC didn't add any VFAT stuff to the formatted partitions? Older TOS versions don't like that.

Re: Falcon DSP pinout

Maybe I'll just explain what I was looking to achieve: regular 56001 has a async serial interface (SCI) which woudn't be connected in Falcon if only regular 56001 was used. I was hoping to run that serial port with a pair of wires another unused async serial port in MFP. This would help me with deb...

Re: Moving my BBS from Mega 4 to Raspberry Pi/Hatari

I find that somewhat funny as my experience with Hatari is that it really isn't any more "reliable" than my actual hardware. With Hatari one has an option of using GEMDOS HD, more RAM than real HW, and less buggy TOS version, with which one can avoid crashes related to those. However, Hat...

Re: Moving my BBS from Mega 4 to Raspberry Pi/Hatari

I'm just curious - why do this and not stick with the original hardware? Hatari / raspi could act as backup and testing setup before deploying on the real HW. One can also run several Hatari setups on same PC to test BBS upgrades before deployment. If one's aiming at high availability Atari BBS, th...

Really? Weird. I thought I'd tried it at some point in the past and it hadn't worked.

It does need overscan, but the STE right border opening is much easier than ST overscan.

Re: USB printer driver project

How does linux/bsd handle the plethora of printers ? I am aware of cups and foomatic but not sure what their exact functions are. Printer manufacturers provide device driver programs for CUPS. Some are just binary blobs, some are semi-open source. Not very satisfactory at least for cheaper inkjets.

Re: All FreeMiNT builds again available and more!

But unlike aranym, Hatari emulates more than one cputype, so theoretically, you would need hat000, hat020 targets etc. But there are already to much different kernels. IMHO only two types would be interesting for Hatari: * 000 ST/STE one * 030 one with MMU / memory protection I'm experimenting with...

does it have OLDTOSFS enabled? I guess not. That code hasn't been tested for years, maybe it does not even compile anymore. And actually, it was only a workaround in old mint versions, before there was a "real" filesystem driver for mint. Not being able to use GEMDOS drives seriously limi...

Re: Going beyond standard resolutions in Hatari?

I just tried again with Hatari 2.2.1. Attached are screenshots. One is of Geneva, with Extended VDI set to 800x600 at 16 colors. The second is NVDI, which drops four bombs, but then makes it to TOS now (which is better than the previous behavior - the emulator would crash) but results in a corrupte...

Can you just rename the filenames to 8.3 inside your program? Hatari includes a script to convert long file names to 8+3 format in TOS-compatible way: https://git.tuxfamily.org/hatari/hatari.git/plain/tools/atari-convert-dir.py I've successfully used it to fix MiNTlib compiled programs using long f...

Re: Going beyond standard resolutions in Hatari?

Are there any recommended settings different maximum resolutions? I wouldn't try this with NVDI - it doesn't seem to like the Extended VDI. Geneva doesn't cooperate with it either. Did you try Hatari v2.2 or earlier? All the earlier versions have this issue which was found & fixed only in v2.2:...
