Re: Using gcc, basic questions

OK, much better now.
Miro, is gcc 8.2.3 planned for native release?

Re: Using gcc, basic questions

Hum... something is wrong on my side; I still have the same error under Hatari when generating 68000 (see image). However, generated binaries are slightly different: sha256g.ttp: 162820 bytes sha256g030.ttp: 163077 bytes makefiles are attached. What I did: make clean make --> generates sha256g.ttp m...

Thanks for the valuable info; any 8.2.3 for native? Probably a question to Miro.

Re: Using gcc, basic questions

Looks like I found response for #2: http://tho-otto.de/crossmint.php m68k-atari-mint-gcc is the C compiler. m68k-atari-mint-g++ is the C++ compiler. They just work. I only tested the C and C++ languages, but other languages may work, too. If you want to generate DRI symbols in the final executable, ...

Using gcc, basic questions

Hi, just starting using gcc, I have a couple of basics questions: - I installed gcc 7.3.0 for native atari under Aranym, latest gcc is 8.2.3 for cross compiler, any chance 8.2.3 is available for native? - I installed gcc-7.3.0-m68020-60mint.tar.bz2 as running in Aranym on a 68060, looks like generat...

Re: SHA256 for all Ataris

Hi, thanks for links. Yes I'm aware that gcc binaries are much larger than PureC ones because of posix, just wanting to give gcc a try for some tests or additional tool dev. To me, main lack is not being able to use a debugger with gcc. PureD is so nice for that. Wil first go for native compilation ...

Re: SHA256 for all Ataris

Hi, That will be tough. The implementation i used already has everything "unrolled", and does not use a table like your assembler version. . I don't get your point here. Do you refer to .constants label in assembly file? To me it should be faster accessing these by an address register (a5)...

Re: SHA256 for all Ataris

Hi, Thorsten, you ruined my day ;-) wow I'm very impressed by how much efficient is code generated by gcc; honestly I did not expect a 'C' code to be faster than 68k one in this context. Typically I expected a about a 1/2 ratio, like code generated by PureC. I don't think 68020 instructions would he...

Re: SHA256 for all Ataris

No, I did not take time to investigate this; just considering the way assembly code looks to make optimum usage of registers and code compacity, I would expect some pretty nice speed benefit compared to 'C' codes I've seen (openssl, polarSSL). If someone has some benchmark with these, that would be ...

SHA256 for all Ataris

Hi all, When debuging VISION, I needed to compute some basic hash to know if a given buffer has been changed; I made something pretty simple but by curiosity I looked if there is a SHA256 implementation on Ataris. The ones I've seen, like polarSSL, looked too much 'C' oriented for me, I expected som...

Re: VISION 4.5a is out!

Hi, If you want test for appl_getinfo you can use this: https://freemint.github.io/tos.hyp/en/a ... l_xgetinfo Problem with this routine is that it won't return support for a classic Falcon as AES is 3.30. I have added test for AES version >= 3.30 if Falcon is detected. Please test it at: http://vis...

Re: VISION 4.5a is out!

Hi Eero, appl_getinfo is only available on TOS > 4.00; for regular Falcon (I mean running original TOS) version is 3.30. So there is a special case on this because VISION knows it features popups. What I can do is to test against this version (3.30) for Falcon to not use AES popups in your case. For...

Re: VISION 4.5a is out!

Hi sashapont, yes looks like you are not looking in the folder where you saved the picture... Also I guess you created the image from "New..." in file menu and newly image file is NEW.TIF. TIF format is selected by VISION in this case when color mode is TrueColor (else IMG should be select...

Re: VISION 4.1a is out!

Hi Cyprian,

I made the test; set a 256 colors resolution, loaded a JPG image into VISION, saved it to IMG.
VISION/Smurf/Pixart loads it OK but Thing loads it wrongly,
So not sure it's a VISION issue here.

Re: VISION 4.5a is out!

Hi, just made some tests: @eero: you're right, if it is a Falcon, AES popup usage is forced. However it is on purpose as regular Falcon AES version is 0x0330 and so VISION can't rely on appl_getinfo to know about popup features. I could remove this force but in this case, regular Falcon will lose AE...

@sashapont: what is the error message and color resolution? If it is tc, vision does not suppprt gif export from this color resolution

Re: VISION 4.1a is out!

Hi Cyprian, Note that for zView codec handling you also have to use GlobalPriorities in vision.ini to state your preference (1,2-->VISION first, zView second; 2,1-->zie first, VISION second). In your case (default), it's VISION first, so new release correctly handles the BMP load. However, as you ar...

Re: VISION 4.1a is out!

Hi Cyprian, I fixed the bug, you can download a fix here: http://vision.atari.org/download/temp/vision.zip My suggestion was to use zview plugin in VISION as explained at http://vision.atari.org/vhistoe.htm A remark about saving then to IMG: 1- Use a 256 color resolution to perform this (or use Batc...

Re: VISION 4.1a is out!

Ok will try on my side this evening. In the mentime you can try to use bmp zview plugin instead of vision's internal one, just have a look at http://vision.atari.org/vhistoe.htm and change vision.ini accordingly.
Happy new year,
Jean

Re: VISION 4.1a is out!

Hi Cyprian,

what color resolution are you using in Aranym?
If it is not truecolor, use 'Tab' key to switch between color palette image and protected palette. This mecanism is used to avoid that an image with similar color for color used for text and background makes VISION not usable.

Re: Replacement for VISION's color icon routines

Hi Kroll,

no need to be sorry :-) If something easy can be done, I'll do but it's pretty complicated to debug this through message exchanges.
At least icons do not work for loading images does even for JPEG DSP in TC32.

Cheers,
Jean
