Re: SLB 'devkit' ?

Hi Thorsten, I found the comment on the 'official' Magic library page same as in toshyp but moved to github: https://freemint.github.io/tos.hyp/en/magic_sharelib.html (also at the very end in 11.23.10 SLB.H, cdecl is missing) I'll try adding the cdecl keyword as it has to be there anyway. Would be g...

Re: SLB 'devkit' ?

Hi, I'm facing an issue when using PureC; slbopen looks OK but any attempt to run a function leads to err -32 (invalid function number). I guess this has to do with the function call which is cdecl but slb.h mentions: /* Unfortunately this does not work in Pure-C, because Pure-C has an error (!!!) h...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Ho Thorsten, nice work! You're right: VISION does not care about the text. Just for your information, VISION includes some memory allocation checker able to detect bugs such as frees to never allocated memory, leaks, etc. Have a look at tools/xalloc.c for more details. There is a dependency on loggi...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi Thorsten,

you're welcome :-)
One strange thing: using png SLB, VISION's module calling it does not crash (at least as long as I tried). Makes sense thumbnail is the culprit; I also had some bugs when generating the thumbnail with exotic sizes.
If I can help, jsut ask me.
Cheers,
Jean

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi Thorsten, I tested again as I had really poor time before. Actually, zView crashes when using "File->Browser..." with the files in the folder contents: http://vision.atari.org/download/temp/3.7z It crashes on the 30MB file but if you load it works... Situation is not clear with ldg.prg ...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

No, as i workaround, i'm currently using a copy, where that code is not used, to prevent such problems. As said, linking against an updated ldg library is one thing, but it also requires the users to install an updated ldg.prg, and i think that is not available yet. Top Olivier provided me the upda...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi Thorsten,

Could that maybe be caused by some *.ldg that needs other libraries, like mem.ldg?

I don't know :-). Does png.ldg require mem.ldg?

Re: zView 1.0.2 released

Hi Thorsten,

No, there is no preference. The directory is scanned only once, and whichever is listed there first, will be used if there are duplicates.

yes I missed that point, I was misinterpreting the code I read.

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi Thorsten, Above you state that zView crashes if LDG.PRG is *not* loaded.. It crashes on current release (1.0.2) if ldg.prg is *not* loaded. What I suggested, because I thought you were using the official ldg.lib against zview.app, is to get the new one from Olivier and try if that fixes this issu...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi Olivier/Thorsten, 2 things: - Native PNG: basically, whatever the codec (ldg, slb, vision's internal) is, the read interface could be simplified as { init, load_line, exit }. Let's say we put these 'real' functions in the native lib, calling the open source library primitives. Considering the amo...

Re: zView 1.0.2 released

I agree with Thorsten here; if a codec has just been used, chances are it will be used again (e.g. see jpg photos in a folder). And I agree with TheNameOfTheGame that it is a waste to load them all. Using the huge tiff codec is pretty unlikely and I have 100 codecs or so in my codec folder, loading ...

Re: zView 1.0.2 released

Yes, that's true. This is because zView has to query the codec which filetypes it supports. But that has already been the case with the old version. I have a suggestion here as I faced the same problem in VISION. What VISION does is build some ini file with a codec by section to store this kind of ...

Oh no :-) Thorsten you must be kidding me... I'm just done integrating zview ldg codecs to vision that you move to slb :-) I have no easy access to repo now but is there some documentation or example on how to use the slb interface? I'll see.how i can support this in vision. And btw what about the e...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi Thorsten, About png aranym native support, i don't get you about the performance increase: the reason why i fixed this in Vision was because of the perf difference between using a jit 68k emulated lib and the native lib, i don't remember the factor exactly but you DO see the difference when catal...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi lp, the problem is that the issue is not easily reproducible; it happens *sometimes* when VISION catalogs my ST format images on 16color.img but there may be an issue when loading fsnap32k.img (rejected btw); the crash happens during the call to reader_init(). When loading these 2 files in sequen...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi Olivier/Throsten, I have sucessfully integrated latest libpng & ldg into VISION. Looks good on Aranym-Mint/Hatari/MagicPC, LDG.PRG is no longer required in AUTO folder. Just experienced a problem with img.ldg (not sure it wasn't there before) which crashes from time to time on a couple of fil...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi Thorsten, no LDG in VISION are only used for dynamic modules such as rotation, gamma correction, blackhole, etc. Filters could be implemented in LDG but it was done like this simply because of the more comlicated user interface it requires (matrix values to enter). A LDV (=VISION's LDG) could pot...

Re: New shared libraries of zlib and pnglib available

Hi Thorsten, Wow, that's a nice catch :-)! WHo is maintening LDG now? Olivier/Mikro? It would be nice to have official new release with this fix. There is currently a workaround in VISION but better have a clean release. The workaround you suggest is not viable in VISION as by its nature all LDG and...

Re: All FreeMiNT builds again available and more!

Hi mikro, nice initiative :-) I had to rename mint\1-19-cur\xaaes.km to mint\1-19-cur\xaaes040.km to boot properly on Aranym. However, this is not the end of the story: I don't have my host drive(H:) anymore, I'm did not dig into this but AFAIK, only Aranym configuration matters here no? Also my net...
